Ridge Cap Flashing Replacement Procedure
1. Dismantling the existing ridge
We will remove the old ridge cap and the internal wooden batten. Care will be taken not to break the roofing material during this process.
This time, it was quite corroded.
We recommend replacing the internal wooden batten every 10 to 15 years.
When the ridge cap is removed, there is a batten inside.
2. Installation of new batten
We will install a new batten. There are also resin battens available, which are less prone to corrosion (such as Toughmock and Eco Lumber).
This time, we used Toughmock!
3. Sealing the ridge cap joints
We will apply sealing on the inside of the overlaps to enhance strength and waterproofing.
4. Installation of new ridge cap and ventilation ridge
We will process and install the ends and joints.
5. Clean up and complete!
That’s all!
