This is a case study of a roof renovation project at Mr. G’s residence in Aoba-ku, Yokohama, conducted in March 2021.

Aoba-ku Roof Overlay Construction Photos
1. Existing Ridge and Rain Gutter Demolition
We will only demolish the ridge flashing and snow stops that would obstruct the overlay work. The hole in the middle of the photo is the ventilation opening in the attic where the ventilation ridge was installed.
2. Roofing Installation (Waterproof Sheet)
The roofing used this time is modified asphalt. It is expected to have double the durability of regular asphalt roofing!
3. Custom Fabrication (Curlicue, Eaves, Valley)
We will process and install the valley flashing, eaves, and curlicue.
4. Main Construction
Once the main roofing is installed, we will place the purlins at the ridge and wall edges. This time, we used cedar purlins, but there are also purlins made of resin that are resistant to corrosion.
5. Ridge Flashing and Wall Rain Stop Flashing Fabrication
We will process and install the ridge cap. At the wall edge, we will process and install a component called the rain gutter metal. We will also apply sealing thoroughly.
6. Cleaning
We will remove footprints that inevitably appear and clean up any debris that has fallen around the house and inside the rain gutters.

About the roofing material
The roofing material used is the Super Galtect from Aijii Industry.
The Super Galtect comes with a manufacturer warranty of 15 years for the coating and 25 years for perforation.
Our company also provides a 10-year construction warranty!
It is made of SGL steel plate, which is resistant to rust.
Insulation material is thoroughly applied from edge to edge of the roofing material, creating a metal plate that integrates the steel plate and insulation.
When installed, insulation is applied even to the parts where the roofing materials overlap, and the surface is coated with high heat-reflective paint, allowing for a cool summer and warm winter experience.
Additionally, it has soundproofing properties, reducing the sound of rain.
Being lighter than other roofing materials, it also reduces the sway during earthquakes, contributing to earthquake resistance.
It excels in finish, durability, insulation, soundproofing, and wind resistance, and the Super Galtect from Aijii Industry is the most frequently used in our construction achievements and is gaining significant attention!
