This is a case study of an exterior renovation in Aoba-ku, Yokohama.
The work this time involves a roof overlay (cover method) using Super Galtect!
We implemented measures against leaks through the roofing work!

Since the Urbani roofing material is prone to cracking and cannot be painted, we proposed the roof overlay method for this project!

Roof Overlay Construction Procedure

1. Existing Ridge and Snow Stops Dismantling

We will dismantle unnecessary parts (ridge flashing) for the overlay method! The durability of wooden purlins is about 10 to 15 years. We will leave the ridge purlin intact!

2. Installing Roofing (Waterproof Sheet)

The roofing material used is Jouyu Pulp Industry/Sunlight G!
It is made of modified asphalt roofing, which is said to have double the durability of regular asphalt roofing.
As a primary waterproofing measure, if the roofing is properly installed, there will be no leaks!

To prevent it from blowing away, we use steel plate chips to securely attach it!

3.Accessory Processing (Karakusa, Keraba, Valley)

Before the main roofing work, we process and install accessories such as keraba, karakusa, and valley metal!
The accessories used are the genuine accessories from Galtect, specifically SGL copper plate!

4.Main Construction (Aiji Industry/Super Galtect)

After processing the accessories, we will install the Galtect main roofing up to the ridge!
Once the roofing is completed up to the ridge, we will install a necessary material called a “kanban” to secure the ridge metal. The kanban can be made of cedar or resin, and this time we used a resin type!
The resin type is expected to have twice the durability compared to the cedar type!

5.Ridge Metal Processing & Sealing at Various Locations

Next, we will process and install the ridge metal. We will apply sealing thoroughly on the inside of the joints. At the wall edge, we will process and install a component called a rain guard metal.
The nails and screws used for fixing are made of stainless steel, which is resistant to rust!

6.Cleaning

We will clean up the debris that has fallen onto the balcony and rain gutters. We will thoroughly remove items like nails and metal scraps that could cause injuries. Additionally, we will wipe away any footprints left on the roof to keep it clean.

About Roofing Materials

The roofing material used is the Super Galtect from Aijii Industry.
The Super Galtect comes with a manufacturer warranty of 15 years for the coating and 25 years for perforation.
We also provide a 10-year construction warranty!
Made of SGL steel plate, it is resistant to rust.
Insulation material is tightly applied from edge to edge of the roofing material, creating a metal plate that integrates the steel plate and insulation.
During installation, insulation is applied even to the parts where the roofing materials interlock, and the surface is coated with a highly heat-reflective paint, allowing for a cool summer and warm winter experience.
It also has soundproofing properties, reducing the sound of rain.
Moreover, it is lighter compared to other roofing materials, which reduces the sway during earthquakes, providing earthquake resistance.
It excels in finish, durability, insulation, soundproofing, and wind resistance, and our company’s track record shows that the Super Galtect from Aijii Industry is the most commonly used, gaining significant attention!
