Ridge Cap Replacement Procedure
1. Existing Ridge Demolition
We will remove the old ridge cap and the wooden batten inside the ridge. Care is taken not to break the roofing materials during this process.
We recommend replacing the wooden batten every 10 to 15 years.
Once the ridge cap is removed, you will find the batten inside.
2. New Batten Installation
We will install a new batten. This time, we used a cedar batten, but there are also resin battens that are resistant to corrosion (such as Toughmock and Eco Lumber).
3. Ridge Cap Joint Sealing
We will apply sealing to the inside of the overlaps to enhance strength and waterproofing.
4. New Ridge Cap and Ventilation Ridge Installation
We will process and install the ends and joints.
5. Clean up and done!
