[Sagamihara City] Key Points to Compare When Getting Estimates for Exterior Wall Painting!

Hello! This is Kakeru Koumuten Co., Ltd.!

We are Kakeru Koumuten, a specialist in exterior renovations!
We receive many requests for estimates on exterior wall painting in Sagamihara City,
and we carry out a lot of exterior wall painting in Sagamihara City.
On this page, we will explain important points and comparison points when obtaining an estimate for exterior wall painting!

“I don’t know how to read an estimate for exterior wall painting for the first time”
“I requested an estimate for exterior wall painting, but I don’t know if it’s a fair price”
“There are too many contractors to narrow down when considering exterior wall painting”
and more
Since this is something you may do once or twice in a lifetime, there may be many things you don’t understand or have questions about.
On this page, we will explain the points to be careful about when getting an estimate for exterior wall painting for the first time and how to compare contractors.

To conclude, the most important thing in exterior wall painting work is
to obtain estimates from at least three companies.

Of course, when obtaining estimates, it is better if the costs are low, but deciding on a contractor based solely on the estimate cost can also be dangerous.
This is because there are many ways to cut costs, such as thinning paint beyond regulations or reducing the number of coats, which can compromise quality.
Therefore, deciding on a contractor based only on cost is risky.

To avoid regrets in exterior wall painting work, it is essential to obtain estimates and consider them carefully.
To confidently request painting work, it is crucial to identify a reliable contractor.

To identify a reliable contractor, you must obtain estimates from contractors and consider them based on those estimates.

That said, for those who are requesting exterior wall painting work for the first time,

there may be many who have such questions.

In this article, we will explain in detail the points you should know when getting an estimate for exterior wall painting, as well as the comparison points and important items in the actual estimate for exterior wall painting!

目次

9 Points You Should Know When Getting an Estimate

The points you should know when getting an estimate for exterior wall painting can be broadly divided into the following 9 items.

1. Obtain estimates from more than 3 companies and compare them with others
2. Check if the contents of the estimate differ too much from other companies
3. Confirm if insurance or subsidies within Sagamihara City can be used
4. Carefully check if there is a breakdown of the types of materials used
5. Confirm if the details of the construction work are clear
6. Check the contents of the warranty and after-support
7. Confirm not only the exterior wall paint but also the paint for auxiliary parts and the number of coats
8. Check if the paint is suitable for the substrate
9. Confirm if the exterior wall painting plan takes into account the location and natural environment of Sagamihara City

We will explain each point in detail!

1. Obtain estimates from more than 3 companies and compare them with others

As I mentioned earlier, the most important thing in exterior painting work is getting multiple estimates.

Getting multiple estimates means requesting quotes from several contractors and comparing them.

There are many painting contractors, and even for the same work, the methods and materials used can vary significantly.
Therefore, the costs can differ greatly depending on the contractor you choose.

Even if the request is the same, if you decide based on just one estimate, you may not realize if you are being charged more than the market rate.
By comparing multiple companies, you can understand the appropriate work content and price range.
However, it is recommended not to look only at the costs in the estimates but also to check the construction methods (number of coats and cleaning methods), track records, and reviews to make a comprehensive judgment!

If you proceed without getting multiple estimates,

“There might have been a cheaper contractor…”
“I regret that it faded earlier than the years they mentioned…”

the chances of regret increase, which is why we at Kakeru Koumuten recommend getting multiple estimates to all our customers.

Some contractors may extremely dislike getting multiple estimates or pressure you to sign a contract quickly.
Do not rush into a contract; take your time to get multiple estimates and carefully consider the contents of the quotes!

2. Check if the contents of the estimate differ too much from other companies

When you get multiple estimates, it is also important to check if the contents differ too much from other companies.

It is not uncommon for the construction area to be extremely large or the amounts to be excessively high.
While it is not necessarily bad for there to be significant differences in amounts or work content, make sure to confirm with the contractor the clear reasons for the differences from other companies.

If you find a paint you like among the proposals from each contractor, it may be easier to compare estimates if you ask all contractors to use the same paint.

3. Check if there is a breakdown of materials and quantities

When you receive an estimate for exterior painting from a contractor, make sure to check if there is a breakdown included.

Some contractors only list quantities as “one set”, but this does not clarify what is included and how much it costs.
If the quantities are unclear, the contractor can freely adjust the amounts, increasing the likelihood of inflated costs.

Regarding the paint, if it only states “silicone paint”, you won’t know what kind of paint will be used.
There is a wide range of silicone paints, from those with a durability of less than 10 years to those lasting about 16 years.
Since there is a possibility that cheaper, less durable paint may be used, make sure to check the name of the paint carefully!

I recommend contractors who clearly state how much money is being spent on what.
Contractors who provide clear pricing will give clients peace of mind when entrusting them with their projects.

4. Check if grants and subsidies from Sagamihara City can be used

To reduce the cost of exterior wall painting work, make sure to check with the contractor if grants or subsidies can be utilized.

For example, using heat-reflective paint for exterior wall or roof painting may qualify for subsidies from local governments.

Using grants or subsidies requires additional procedures. Be sure to check with your local government for any applicable grants or subsidies before obtaining an estimate!

Possible subsidies and grants for exterior wall painting in Sagamihara City

In Sagamihara City, the following subsidies may be available for exterior wall painting. For more details, please contact our company or your local government. (As of June 2026)

5. Confirm that the construction details are clear

When considering the estimate,
it is necessary to confirm whether the construction details align with your goals and requests.

I plan to demolish the house or move in 10 years
I want to change the design or color
I am considering exterior painting due to fading or cracking
I want to improve heat insulation because the interior is hot

You may be considering exterior painting due to triggers or concerns like the above.

For example, if you have decided to move or demolish in 10 years, using a highly durable paint with a lifespan of nearly 20 years would bea waste of money.
It is necessary to consider using a lower-cost paint with a shorter lifespan or opting for partial repairs as one of the options.
Similarly, if you are aiming to improve heat insulation and thermal resistance due to heat, using a paint focused on aesthetics for the roof renovation would not fulfill the original purpose and would render the work unnecessary.

If you want to change the design boldly, be sure to check whether color simulation is available!
Kakeru Koumuten Co., Ltd. offers color simulation, allowing for simulations based on actual photos of the building.

The photo above shows the left is the actual photo of the building and the right is the color simulation!
As you can see, various colors can be simulated.

Basically, the estimate will list the processes in order, so it is necessary to check in advance how the construction will proceed and to confirm with the contractor if there are any uncertainties.

6. Check the details of warranties and after-support

In case any issues arise after construction, it is recommended to choose a contractor that explains warranties and after-support in advance.
Regarding warranties, be sure to check not only the warranty period but also the details of the warranty!

How long is the warranty period? What kind of after-support is available? Let’s confirm these points at the time of the estimate.

Kakeru Koumuten Co., Ltd. provides a warranty for exterior wall painting and sends out after-maintenance DM every year.

7. Check not only the exterior wall paint but also the paint for auxiliary parts and the number of coats

When painting the exterior walls, it is common to also paint the auxiliary parts.
Auxiliary parts include “rain gutters, eaves, water drainage, fascia boards, nose boards, awnings, etc.” Each has different materials.
The materials include “wood, metal, calcium silicate, etc.” and each requires different types of primer.

Here are three points to check:
・Is the rank of the auxiliary paint at the desired level? (Silicone, fluorine, etc.)
・What type of primer is used for the auxiliary parts?
・How many coats will be applied?

Be sure to confirm what paint is being used for both the exterior wall and the auxiliary parts!

8. Confirm that the appropriate paint for the substrate is being used

There are various types of exterior wall materials, and it is necessary to use paint suitable for each!
If you choose paint based solely on durability and performance, you may encounter issues such as peeling or bubbling within a few years.

Always check the exterior wall material of your home and use the appropriate paint!
The exterior wall materials and precautions are as follows!

〇 Ceramic siding
If it is constructed with a non-ventilated method, use a highly permeable primer and paint.
〇 Galvanized steel
Use rust prevention for the primer and solvent-based paint.
〇 Metal siding
Use a primer for the undercoat and solvent-based paint.
〇 Mortar with Jolly Pat finish
Use a sealer for the primer and specialized repair paint or high-permeability matte paint.
〇 Mortar with Risin finish
Use matte paint for the topcoat to prevent unevenness.
〇 Mortar with Stucco finish
Use a sealer for the primer and high-permeability matte paint.

9. Confirm that the exterior painting plan matches the location and natural environment in Sagamihara City

Choosing the right paint considering the building’s location and natural environment is an important point to avoid regrets!
For example, if the location in Sagamihara City has good sunlight, it’s advisable to choose paint with high heat insulation properties, while in shaded areas, paint with high mold resistance should be selected!
It is also recommended to choose paint that is resistant to dirt along National Route 16 or busy roads!

Kakeru Koumuten Co., Ltd. will propose the optimal paint considering the customer’s needs and life plans, as well as location conditions!

【Sagamihara City】 Exterior Painting Estimate Procedure

We will explain in detail the procedure for requesting an estimate for exterior painting.

Specifically, the procedure is as follows.

1. Search for contractors operating in Sagamihara City
2. Request an estimate
3. Have a site survey conducted
4. Compare the estimates

Basically, most contractors will respond for free, but it’s a good idea to confirm whether there will be any costs involved just to be safe!

1. Research contractors operating in Sagamihara City 【Check Reviews】

Currently, most contractors have information posted on the internet or on signs, so you can research there.
Also, when searching for contractors, it’s advisable to get multiple estimates and look for several contractors.
By being mindful of the six points mentioned earlier, the chances of making a mistake will be reduced.

In the case of the internet, there are comparison sites where you can check multiple contractors at the same time, which is very convenient, but be aware that the site’s fees will be added to the estimates with a 100% probability.
That said, it is easy to understand the pros and cons of contractors through reviews and ratings, and contractors also understand that multiple estimates are the norm, so there are few contractors who present high estimates.
Conversely, since it often becomes a price competition, it is also true that there is a tendency for paint to be diluted beyond the standard or for shoddy work to occur.

In other cases, advertisements may be placed on public transportation such as buses and trains, or flyers may be delivered to your home. If you are interested, it might be a good idea to contact them once.

That said, narrowing down from the many contractors can be quite challenging.
Therefore, reading reviews on Google and similar platforms is the most reliable method, focusing your inquiries on companies with high ratings.
Google reviews cannot be deleted by contractors, making them trustworthy reviews.

2. Request an Estimate

To narrow down excellent contractors from exterior painting estimates, it is important to request estimates from at least three companies.
With only one or two companies, it becomes difficult to compare the contents, increasing the likelihood of not finding a good contractor. By obtaining estimates from three or more companies, you can compare prices, service contents, and responsiveness, making it easier to find a suitable contractor for you.

Also, when obtaining multiple estimates, try to have them created under the same construction conditions as much as possible.
If the conditions change, it will be difficult to compare costs and construction contents due to too many differences.

3. Have a Site Survey Conducted

Once you have requested an estimate, have the contractor conduct a site survey.
Since the contractor will come to your home, be sure to ask any questions you have regarding the construction at that time.

Examples of questions you might want to ask include:

● Communicate your requests and future life plans
● Confirm whether the construction will be done by their own staff
● Where will the materials be stored and where will the scaffolding be placed?
● If you have preferred paint or construction methods, be sure to mention them

By checking the actual exterior walls, they can propose the most suitable materials and construction contents.

4. Compare Estimates

Once you receive estimates from multiple contractors, please compare each company’s estimate.
The four key points to pay attention to are as follows:

1. Check if the product name is listed.
2. Check if the area and unit price are listed.
3. Check if the process and specifications are listed.
4. Confirm whether the paint is suitable for the existing exterior wall.

Let’s explain the specific points to be careful about.

1. Check if the product name is listed.

Let’s check if the details such as the types of paints and materials used in the painting work are clearly stated.
If there are any unclear parts, make sure to confirm with the contractor.
If only components like “water-based silicone” are listed, be sure to check the product name of the paint!

2. Check if the area and unit price are stated

Always confirm that the construction area is not abbreviated as “one set.”
Contractors that provide detailed area measurements are likely to have conducted a more accurate survey and can be trusted.

If most of the area in the estimate is listed as “one set,” please be cautious.

3. Check if the process and specifications are stated

Also, check if detailed processes such as “scaffolding assembly” and “substrate treatment” are included.
If appropriate processes are listed, there should be at least 8 items.

If processes are grouped together as “painting work in one set” or “ancillary painting work in one set,” or if the product names of the paints used are not listed, it is difficult to understand the details, so caution is necessary.

4. Check if the paint is suitable for the existing exterior wall

Exterior walls come in various types, such as metal, ceramic siding, and mortar.
Mortar also has various finishing methods such as Jolly Pat finish, spray tile finish, stucco finish, and resin finish.
Depending on the type and finishing method, there are optimal undercoats and topcoats, and using the wrong materials can lead to problems.
Therefore, it is essential to thoroughly understand the existing exterior wall and finishing method to ensure that the optimal paint is being proposed.

Comparison Points for Exterior Wall Painting Estimate Items

Finally, we will introduce the items in the estimate for exterior wall painting work that must be checked!
If the items we are about to explain are not included in the estimate, we recommend confirming with the contractor whether they are included in the work!

We will explain the essential items to check when estimating exterior wall painting work!

First, we will explain the important items for exterior wall painting work in detail by process!

1. High-pressure washing

First, we will perform high-pressure washing on the entire exterior wall.
It is essential to wash it thoroughly as differences in finish can occur in the areas to be painted.
If the dirt is severe, bio-washing is recommended.

2. Preparation

We will protect areas that may get dirty during exterior wall painting, such as windows and sashes. Let’s also check if the floor (doma) needs protection!

3. Substrate Adjustment

We will scrape off old paint and dirt that could not be removed by washing, including repairs for cracks in the exterior wall.
Rust on metal parts will also be scraped off.

Let’s also confirm the methods and types of materials for crack repairs!

5. Primer Application

This is the first step of applying paint after high-pressure washing and substrate treatment, which ensures that the middle and top coats adhere well to the surface. Applying a proper primer makes a significant difference in durability and finish!
There are various types of primers, and it is necessary to choose a primer suitable for the existing exterior wall and its condition.
To prevent troubles and to prolong the life of the paint film, it is essential to use a primer that matches the substrate and its condition.

Make sure to understand the condition of the substrate before confirming whether a specialized primer is being used!

6. Middle Coat and Top Coat

Next is the middle coat. This is a crucial process to bring out the performance of the paint, achieve a beautiful finish, and eliminate unevenness!

Next is the top coat, which is the finishing touch for the exterior wall painting. We will focus on ensuring that there are no uneven areas or missed spots, resulting in a beautiful finish!

The paints for the middle and top coats have different durability and heat insulation characteristics, so it is recommended to carefully decide which paint best suits your purpose rather than just choosing based on price.

7. Painting of Accessory Parts

Accessory parts refer to various components other than the main parts of the building, such as the roof and exterior walls.

Like the exterior walls, the optimal painting methods and paints for accessory parts depend on the existing materials.
You need to check the proposed estimate and confirm, “Is this the optimal paint?” and “What primer will be used?” carefully.

Below, we will explain the points to check when painting accessory parts.

7-1. Eaves Ceiling (Nokiten)

The eaves ceiling (nokiten) refers to the ceiling area under the eaves of the roof.

The reasons for painting the eaves ceiling include not only enhancing aesthetics but also protecting the exterior walls from rainwater and improving durability.
Since the eaves ceiling is less exposed to sunlight, it tends to deteriorate less compared to other exterior walls and fascia boards.
However, because it is less exposed to sunlight, mold and algae can easily develop, so it is recommended to use a highly mold-resistant paint for the job.

Generally, it requires two coats of topcoat, but if the deterioration is severe or depending on the material, a primer may be necessary.
To prevent blistering, a low-solvent matte paint is typically used for the topcoat.

7-2. Fascia and Nose Cover

The fascia and nose cover are the horizontal boards located at the tip of the roof eaves.
The nose cover is the board where the rain gutter is installed!
The fascia is the board on the opposite side of the nose cover where there is no rain gutter!

The materials for the fascia and nose cover are generally wood or board, and occasionally metal.
These areas are exposed to ultraviolet rays and are prone to deterioration, so they are often painted together with the exterior walls.

The painting method involves preparing the surface by scraping off the existing paint, followed by a primer suitable for the substrate, and then applying two coats of topcoat, totaling three coats.

〇 For Wood
After applying a primer for wood, two coats of low-solvent paint are applied. Using a wood primer as the base coat helps prevent unevenness and improves durability.

〇 For Board Material
After using a cationic sealer as the primer, two coats of low-solvent paint are applied.
The cationic sealer not only enhances adhesion but also penetrates the material to increase surface strength, thereby improving durability.

〇 For Metal Material
Depending on the condition, either a rust preventive or primer is used as the base coat, followed by two coats of low-solvent paint.
If rust is present, a rust preventive is used, while for galvanized steel, which is less prone to rust, a primer is used to ensure paint adhesion.

Let’s understand the existing condition and material to confirm the number of coats and type of primer needed!

7-3. Rain Gutter

The rain gutter is the part that collects rainwater from the roof and directs it to the ground.

Since rain gutters are originally made from durable materials, there is no problem if they are not painted.
However, many people prefer to have them painted along with exterior wall painting for aesthetic maintenance and to prevent deterioration.

The painting method involves using low-solvent paint for two coats, as the basic material is PVC, which is not very resistant to ultraviolet rays. (The inside of the eaves gutter is not painted.)

7-4. Fascia Board and Band

The board known as “makuban” or “obi” is a flat component typically located at the boundary between the first and second floors of a building.

The purpose of painting the makuban is primarily to enhance its aesthetic appeal.
If you are concerned about dirt or damage, it is advisable to have it painted.

The painting method involves applying a primer suitable for the substrate, followed by two coats of a low-solvent paint.

7-5. Cap Flashing

Cap flashing refers to the finishing material installed on the horizontal upper part of balconies, verandas, and parapets. It is a component or area used for waterproofing.

Its main role is to provide waterproof functionality. Of course, it is also installed to match the design of the exterior!

The painting method involves applying a primer suitable for the substrate, followed by two coats of a low-solvent paint.
(If the existing cap flashing is aluminum, basic painting is not possible.)

7-6. Shutter Box and Storm Shutters

Storm shutters are board doors installed on the outside of windows.
The shutter box is the part where these storm shutters are stored when opened.

The role of storm shutters is to prevent rain, wind, and direct sunlight from directly reaching the windows.
When performing exterior wall painting, we generally recommend painting the storm shutters and shutter boxes as well.
The reason is that, like the exterior walls and roof, they are constantly exposed to rain, wind, and direct sunlight, making them prone to deterioration. If deterioration progresses and they rot, it can lead to leaks.

The painting method involves applying a primer followed by two coats of a low-solvent paint. Rust prevention is used for the primer.

7-7. Shutter Box

The shutter box is the part where the shutter is stored.

Due to aging, the surface coating can peel off and cause discoloration.
Therefore, we recommend painting at the same time as the exterior wall painting for waterproofing and aesthetic improvement.

The painting method involves applying a primer suitable for the substrate, followed by two coats of a low-solvent paint.

7-8. Water Cut

Water cut metal refers to components that protect the building from rain and water.
Its role is to prevent rain from entering the building.

If the water cut is made of steel (iron), maintenance through painting will be necessary.
Some contractors may not include water cut in their estimates, so if it is not included, it may be a good idea to check with your representative.

The painting method involves applying a primer suitable for the substrate, followed by two coats of a low-solvent paint.

8. Removal and Reattachment of Slim Duct

A slim duct is a cover that protects the air conditioning hose.
Since the slim duct is closely attached to the exterior wall, it cannot be properly painted without removing it.
Additionally, if the slim duct is painted without removal, it may become stuck due to the paint and unable to open, so it must always be removed for painting.

Points to Consider When Performing Exterior Painting

When performing exterior painting, it is important to consider the following:

Whether the paint used is compatible with the existing substrate

Below, we will explain what type of paint should be used.

Check if the Paint is Compatible with the Existing Substrate

When performing exterior painting, the type of original substrate will determine whether painting is appropriate and what type of paint can be used.

If incompatible paint is applied, the construction effort may end up being a “waste,” so caution is necessary!
Below are the points to consider when performing exterior painting.

Points to Consider for Fiber Cement Siding

Is the existing siding installed using a ventilation method?

Currently, standard siding is typically installed using a ventilation method, but buildings constructed before the 2000s may have been installed using a direct application method.
If installed using the direct application method, replacing the siding is the safest option, but if painting is chosen, it is necessary to use high permeability paint.
The use of elastic paint is NOT ALLOWED.
Undercoating with fillers or surfacers is alsoNOT ALLOWED.

Is the existing siding difficult to adhere to?

Photocatalytic (difficult-to-adhere siding) will have its paint film peel off within a few years if standard painting methods are used.
If the existing exterior wall is difficult-to-adhere siding, the use of standard sealers or surfacers for undercoating is NOT ALLOWED, so it is necessary to use an undercoating compatible with difficult-to-adhere siding.
If the siding is to be clear coated, it is also necessary to choose clear paint compatible with difficult-to-adhere siding.

Points to Consider for Mortar Exterior Walls

Spray Tile

Sprayed tiles are often applied to mortar exterior walls.
They are relatively trouble-free materials during replacement.
Due to their uneven texture, it is important to wash them thoroughly as dirt tends to accumulate.
For the primer, a filler-type primer that prevents cracks is recommended.
For the paint, a flexible type that is resistant to cracks and has a glossy finish is recommended for easy dirt removal.

Risin

Risin is a mixture of aggregates (finely crushed stone) with resin and cement.
It is characterized by a rough texture and a matte appearance.
It has the disadvantages of being prone to cracking and getting dirty easily.
For the primer, a filler-type that prevents cracks is recommended.
When painting Risin with a glossy finish, it tends to become uneven, so it is recommended to use matte paint.
However, since matte paint gets dirty easily, it is advisable to use paint with high dirt resistance.

Stucco

Stucco is a material made from a mixture of lime, cement, and sand, and it has more texture than Risin.
When repainting, deep textures can release heat and moisture, making it prone to problems such as blistering.
Elastic type paint is not recommended.
Using filler-type for the primer is not recommended, and the primer should be a cationic sealer.
The topcoat must be a highly breathable paint and should be applied with a matte finish.

Jolly Pad Type Exterior Walls

Jolly Pad is a product name from Aica Kogyo, and Bell Art from SK Kaken and Granada from Kikusui Chemical Industry are made from the same material.
Since blistering problems can also occur here, using filler or surfacer-type primers is not recommended.
A cationic sealer should be used for the primer.
The topcoat must be painted with a highly breathable paint or a repair paint specifically for Jolly Pad exterior walls.

Points to Note for Metal Exterior Walls

Galvanized Iron

We thoroughly remove old paint and rust through washing and scraping before painting.
For the primer, we apply either a rust-inhibiting or primer-based undercoat to prevent rust formation and enhance adhesion.
Since water-based paint cannot be used for the topcoat, we will use solvent-based paint.

Metal Siding

Just like with corrugated metal walls, we will paint after thoroughly scraping following high-pressure washing.
Since many materials are made of Galvalume steel, it is necessary to use a high-adhesion primer-based undercoat.
The appropriate undercoats are Nippon Paint’s Perfect Primer or Mitchakuron.
Since water-based paint cannot be used for the topcoat, we will use solvent-based paint.

Scraping (Surface Preparation) for Metal Siding and Corrugated Metal

We remove rust and intentionally scratch the painting surface to enhance adhesion.
This is arguably the most important step when painting iron parts.

What is the Gloss of Exterior Wall Paint?

You can choose the gloss level of paint in up to 5 stages

Even with the same color and type of paint, you can adjust the gloss!
*Note that some paints do not allow for gloss adjustment.

Characteristics of Glossy and Matte Paints

Characteristics of Glossy Paint
It provides a shiny texture and a brilliance similar to that of new construction.
For those who prefer a glossy finish.
For those who want to emphasize weather resistance.
For those who prefer exterior walls that are less prone to dirt.

Characteristics of Matte Paint
It offers a matte texture and a softer atmosphere.
For those who are concerned about gloss.
For those who want to emphasize aesthetics.

Glossy paint is said to have a durability of 2 to 3 years longer compared to matte paint.
Additionally, glossy paint is less prone to dirt accumulation, which is a significant difference.
Gloss diminishes over time, so unless you have a strong preference, glossy paint is recommended!
*The smoother the surface, the less dirt will adhere.

Comparison Points for Sealing Work Estimates

1. Removal of Existing Joints

First, we will use a cutter or similar tool to remove the existing sealing material.

2. Masking

Similar to exterior wall painting, we will use masking tape to protect areas that will not be painted.
This is a crucial point for creating clean lines.
Basically, for vertical joints, masking is needed on both sides, and for horizontal joints, it is needed above and below, which doubles the amount of sealing required.

3. Application of Primer

This is a material applied to enhance the adhesion of the seal, and it is applied to the areas where the seal will be placed.

4. New Seal Installation

Sealing is performed to fill the joints (gaps) between the exterior walls.

The necessary confirmation in this section is the type of sealing material.
Sealing materials have a lifespan, ranging from approximately 10 years to 30 years.

↓ About high-durability seal with a lifespan of 30 years

Oton Exceed

SR Seal H100

This sealing material can often lead to leaks if it deteriorates, so it is best to use high-durability options!
Since the number of installation areas for roof sealing is not that large, using high-durability sealing does not result in a significant cost difference, so we recommend using high-durability sealing.

As shown in the table above, the difference in lifespan between general sealing materials and high-durability sealing materials is significant!

Conclusion

Finally, the six key points to pay particular attention to when estimating exterior wall painting work are as follows.

1. Obtain multiple estimates and compare them with other companies
2. Check if the contents of the estimate differ too much from other contractors
3. Confirm whether insurance or subsidies can be used
4. Carefully check if there is a breakdown of the types of materials used
5. Ensure that the scope of work is clearly defined
6. Check the details of warranties and after-sales support
7. Confirm not only the exterior paint but also the paint for ancillary parts and the number of coats.

By referring to the items introduced this time, it will be easier to distinguish between reputable contractors and those that are not, so please give it a try!!

The important thing is to always obtain multiple estimates and never decide based solely on price!
