Conclusion of this article (Key points in 30 seconds)
  • The most important thing for exterior wall painting is getting estimates from three or more companies. However, deciding solely based on “cost” can be risky. There are many ways to cut costs, such as thinning paint or reducing the number of coats applied.
  • When comparing estimates, what you should focus on is not the amount but the “product name of the paint,” “number of coats,” “quantity (㎡),” “paint for auxiliary parts,” and “type of sealing.” Companies that provide clear information in these areas can be trusted.
  • As of September 2026, there are no subsidies specifically for exterior wall painting in Sagamihara City. The potential options available are energy-saving renovations that include exterior wall insulation (such as Mirai Eco Housing 2026) and fire insurance for typhoon damage.
  • Kakeru Koumuten Co., Ltd. offers free estimates and inspections, and we welcome competitive estimates. We handle everything from temporary scaffolding to painting with our own staff, and we respond quickly to on-site surveys within Sagamihara City.

Since this is something you may do only once or twice in a lifetime, you may have many questions and uncertainties. This page will explain the points to be careful about when getting your first estimate for exterior wall painting and how to compare contractors.

When obtaining competitive estimates, of course, it is better if the costs are low, but deciding on a contractor based solely on the estimate cost can also be dangerous. This is because there are many ways to cut corners to reduce costs, such as thinning the paint beyond the recommended level or reducing the number of coats applied.

To avoid regrets in your exterior wall painting project, it is essential to obtain competitive estimates and carefully consider your options. To confidently request painting work, it is crucial to identify a trustworthy contractor.

That said, among those who are requesting exterior wall painting for the first time,

9 Points to Know When Getting an Estimate

Illustration of staff explaining points

The points to know when getting an estimate for exterior wall painting can be broadly divided into the following 9 items.

  1. Obtain estimates from three or more companies and compare them
  2. Check if the contents of the estimate differ too much from other companies
  3. Carefully check if there is a breakdown of materials and types
  4. Confirm if insurance or subsidies from Sagamihara City can be used
  5. Check if the scope of work is clearly defined
  6. Review the warranty and after-support details
  7. Check not only the exterior wall paint but also the paint for auxiliary parts and the number of coats
  8. Confirm if the paint is suitable for the substrate
  9. Check if the exterior wall painting plan considers the location and natural environment of Sagamihara City

We will explain each point in detail!

POINT 1 Obtain estimates from three or more companies and compare them

Illustration of a man comparing multiple plans

As I mentioned earlier, the most important thing in exterior painting work is multiple estimates. Multiple estimates refer to the method of requesting estimates from several contractors and comparing them.

There are many painting contractors, and even for the same work, the construction methods and materials used can vary by contractor. Therefore, the costs can differ significantly depending on the contractor you choose.

Even if the request is the same, if you decide based on only one estimate, you may not realize that you are being charged more than the market rate. By comparing multiple companies, you can understand the appropriate construction content and price range. However, it is recommended not to look only at costs in multiple estimates, but to check the construction methods (number of coats and cleaning methods) as well as the contractor’s track record and reviews to make a comprehensive judgment!

If you proceed without obtaining multiple estimates, you might find yourself thinking,

“There might have been a cheaper contractor…”
“The color faded earlier than the years mentioned…”

which increases the likelihood of regret, so we at Kakeru Koumuten recommend obtaining multiple estimates to all our customers.

Some contractors may extremely dislike multiple estimates or pressure you to sign a contract quickly. Do not rush into a contract; take your time to obtain multiple estimates and carefully consider the contents of the estimates! If you already have estimates from other companies, we also accept non-face-to-face rough estimates based on other companies’ estimates and drawings.

POINT 2 Check if the contents of the estimate differ too much from other companies

When obtaining multiple estimates, it is also important to check if the contents differ too much from other companies. It is not uncommon for the construction area to be extremely large or the amount to be too high.

It is not necessarily bad if there are significant differences in amounts or construction content, but be sure to confirm with the contractor the clear reasons why their estimate differs from others.

If you find a paint you like among the proposals from each contractor, ask all contractors to unify the paint so that it becomes easier to compare the estimates.

POINT 3 Check if there is a breakdown of materials and quantities

Image of checking the breakdown of the estimate

When you receive an estimate for exterior painting from a contractor, be sure to check whether a breakdown is included.

Some contractors may list quantities only as “one set”, but this does not clarify what is being charged and how much. If the quantities are unclear, the contractor can freely adjust the amounts, increasing the likelihood of being charged more.

Regarding paint, if only “silicone paint” is mentioned, it is unclear what kind of paint will be used. There is a wide variety of silicone paints, ranging from those with a durability of less than 10 years to those with about 16 years. Since there is a possibility that inexpensive, low-durability paint may be used, let’s make sure to check the product name and manufacturer of the paint!

We recommend contractors who specify how much money is spent on what. Contractors who clarify costs will provide peace of mind for those making requests.

POINT 4 Check if grants or subsidies from Sagamihara City can be used

Image illustration of subsidies and insurance

To reduce the cost of exterior wall painting work, let’s confirm with the contractor whether fire insurance or subsidies can be used.

If the exterior wall is damaged due to a typhoon or flying objects, it may be covered under the “wind damage” compensation of fire insurance. Additionally, if exterior wall insulation renovations are carried out simultaneously with exterior wall painting, it may qualify for energy-saving subsidies from the national or local government.

Using grants or subsidies requires separate procedures. Before obtaining a quote, let’s check if there are any applicable systems!

To be honest: As of September 2026, there are no subsidies available for exterior wall painting or heat-resistant painting in Sagamihara City. It has been officially announced that the “Long-term Excellent Housing Renovation Promotion Project,” which was previously mentioned in this article, will not be implemented in Reiwa 8. The only possibilities are “energy-saving renovations accompanied by exterior wall insulation” and “fire insurance.” The conditions for application, contract, and commencement differ by system, so please be sure to check the latest requirements for each system and consult during the quoting stage.
National Mirai Eco Housing 2026 (Housing Energy Saving 2026 Campaign)

Up to 1 million yen per unit (for houses built before 1991. For houses built between 1992 and 2016, up to 800,000 yen)

Insulation renovations for exterior walls, roofs (ceilings), and floors, as well as energy-saving renovations such as high-efficiency windows and water heaters are eligible. If exterior wall insulation renovations are carried out simultaneously with exterior wall painting, exterior wall insulation will be one of the subsidized construction works. However, it is necessary to meet certain “required construction” criteria, such as performing insulation renovations on openings and structures in one room, and there is no system that provides subsidies for just exterior wall painting or just exterior wall insulation. The target is generally houses built before December 31, 2016, and applications will be made by registered contractors. The program will end once the budget limit is reached (by December 31, 2026, at the latest).

Insurance Fire Insurance (Wind Damage, Flying Objects, Hail Damage)

Damage such as cracked exterior materials due to typhoons or strong winds, dents from flying objects, or detached rain gutters and eaves boards may be covered under the “wind damage” compensation of your fire insurance policy. If the conditions such as contract details, deductible amounts, and damage circumstances are met, there is a possibility that insurance payments will be made. Fading and chalking due to aging are generally not covered, and applications must be made within three years of the damage. Kakeru Koumuten Co., Ltd. supports the preparation of necessary documents for insurance claims, including taking photos of the damage and creating estimates.

Other potential programs available in Sagamihara City (Kanagawa Prefecture’s energy-saving renovation, Sagamihara City’s solar power incentives, etc.)
Kanagawa Prefecture Existing Housing Energy-Saving Renovation Subsidy (FY 2026)

Subsidy rate 1/3; maximum 150,000 yen

Insulation renovation of windows and entrance doors is mandatory, and insulation for exterior walls, ceilings, and floors can be added optionally. The application must be made by the homeowner, and applications by contractors on behalf of the homeowner are not allowed. Construction started before the grant decision is not eligible, and additional applications will be accepted from September 7 to 30, 2026 (electronic application, approximately 25 cases on a first-come, first-served basis).

As of September 2026, there are no confirmed unique insulation renovation or energy-saving reform subsidies in Sagamihara City (energy-saving renovations only have a fixed asset tax reduction system). Programs change annually, so please check the latest information on each official website or contact us (information is as of September 2026).

POINT 5 Confirm that the construction details are clear

Illustration considering a life plan

When reviewing the estimate, it is necessary to confirm whether the construction details align with your objectives and requests.

“I plan to demolish the house or move in 10 years.”
“I want to change the design and color.”
“I am considering exterior painting due to fading and cracks.”
“The interior is hot, so I want to improve heat insulation.”

These are some of the reasons and concerns that might lead you to consider exterior painting.

For example, if you have decided to move or demolish in 10 years, using a highly durable paint with a lifespan of nearly 20 years would be a waste of money. It is necessary to consider using a lower-cost paint with a shorter durability or opting for partial repairs as one of the options. Similarly, if you are renovating to improve heat insulation and use aesthetically focused paint, the original purpose will not be fulfilled, making the work pointless.

If you want to change the design dramatically, be sure to check whether color simulation is available! Kakeru Koumuten offers color simulation based on actual photos of the building.
Photo of the building before color simulationImage after color simulation

The above photos show the left is the photo of the building and the right is the color simulation! Various colors can be simulated like this.

Learn more about color simulation for exterior painting

Basically, the estimate will list the processes in order, so it is necessary to check in advance how the work will proceed and to confirm with the contractor if there are any uncertainties.

POINT 6 Check the details of the warranty and after-support

Image of warranty and after-support

It is recommended to choose a contractor who explains the warranty and after-support in advance in case any issues arise after construction. Regarding the warranty, be sure to check not only the warranty period but also the contents of the warranty!

How long is the warranty period? What kind of after-support is available? Let’s check these details at the time of the estimate.

Kakeru Koumuten Co., Ltd. provides a construction warranty for exterior painting based on the type of paint used, and we also send out after-maintenance DM every year. For details on the warranty, please see Kakeru Koumuten’s warranty information, and for actual inspection results, please check after-maintenance achievements.

POINT 7 Check not only the exterior paint but also the paint and number of coats for auxiliary parts

Illustration of auxiliary part painting

When painting the exterior walls, it is common to also paint the auxiliary parts. Auxiliary parts refer to “rain gutters, eaves, water drainage, fascia boards, nose boards, awnings, etc.”, each with different materials. The materials include “wood, metal, calcium silicate, etc.”, and the types of primer used also vary.

There are three points to check:

  • Is the rank of the auxiliary part paint at the desired level? (Silicone, fluorine, etc.)
  • What type of primer is used for the auxiliary parts?
  • How many coats are applied?

Make sure to check what paint is being used for the auxiliary parts as well as the exterior paint!

POINT 8 Confirm that the appropriate paint for the substrate is being used

Checking the type of exterior wall material

There are various types of exterior wall materials, and it is necessary to use paint suitable for each! In addition to the most common ceramic siding for single-family homes, there are also mortar, metal siding, ALC, and tiles, and the selection of primer materials (sealer, filler, primer) changes depending on the substrate.

Particular attention is needed for exterior walls that already have high weather-resistant paints such as photocatalytic, fluorine, or inorganic and for exterior materials known as difficult-to-adhere siding. With regular primer materials, the paint may not adhere properly and could peel off within a few years, so check if specialized primer materials are listed in the estimate. Additionally, directly attached siding is prone to paint film blistering, so selecting a highly breathable paint is important.

During the on-site survey, whether the contractor checks the type of existing exterior wall material and the paint used in the previous painting is also a point to distinguish a reliable contractor.

POINT 9 Check the exterior painting plan considering the location and natural environment of Sagamihara City

Sagamihara City is inland and has little concern for salt damage, while the flat residential area of the Sagamino Plateau experiences strong summer sunlight, making the coatings on the south and west sides prone to deterioration (chalking and fading) due to UV rays. The mountainous areas of Tsukui, Sagamiko, and Fujino are susceptible to moss, algae, and mold growth on the north side due to winter cold and humidity, which affects the selection of paint (weather resistance and anti-algae/mold properties).

It’s important to confirm not only the cost but also whether the proposed paint and process are suitable for the building’s location! (Please refer to the points to consider for exterior painting based on the location in Sagamihara City as well.)

【Sagamihara City】Procedure for Exterior Painting Estimates

Illustration of staff guiding the procedure

We will explain in detail the procedure for requesting an estimate for exterior painting. Specifically, the steps are as follows.

  1. Search for contractors that serve Sagamihara City
  2. Request an estimate
  3. Have a site survey conducted
  4. Compare the estimates

Most contractors will generally provide this service for free, but it’s a good idea to confirm whether there will be any costs involved just to be safe!

STEP 1 Research contractors that serve Sagamihara City

Image of researching contractors on the internet

Currently, most contractors have information available on the internet or on signs, so you can research there. When searching for contractors, it’s advisable to look for multiple options with the intention of getting comparative estimates. By keeping in mind the nine points mentioned earlier, you can reduce the likelihood of making mistakes.

When using the internet, there are comparison sites that allow you to check multiple contractors at once, but some sites have a system where the contractor bears referral fees or contract fees, which may be reflected in the estimates. Since the pricing structure varies by site, it’s reassuring to check the system before using it.

When narrowing down from the many contractors, it’s recommended to read reviews on Google and other platforms carefully and focus on companies with good ratings. In doing so, consider not only the rating points but also the number of reviews, posting dates, specificity of content, presence of construction photos, and responses from the company, as this will give you insight into the actual service of that company.

STEP 2 Request an estimate

To narrow down excellent contractors for exterior wall painting estimates, it is important to request at least three companies. With only one or two companies, it becomes difficult to compare the details, increasing the likelihood of not finding a quality contractor.

When obtaining multiple estimates, make sure to have them create estimates under the same construction conditions (grade of paint, scope of additional work, presence of sealing). Changing the conditions can lead to too many differences, making it hard to compare costs and construction details.

STEP 3 Have a site survey conducted

Once you have requested an estimate, the contractor will conduct a site survey. Since the contractor will come to your home, be sure to ask any questions you have regarding the work at that time. Examples of things you might want to ask or convey include:

  • Communicate your requests and future life plans (how many years you plan to live there, whether you want to change colors)
  • Whether the work will be done by their own staff
  • How they will manage the storage of materials, placement of scaffolding, and measures against splashing of washing water and paint
  • If you have preferred paint or manufacturers, let them know
  • Confirm the type of existing exterior wall material, the paint used in the last job, and the condition of the sealing
It is possible to create a rough estimate from drawings or estimates from other companies, but for a formal estimate, it is important to confirm the existing exterior wall material, the condition of deterioration (cracks, chalking, sealing cuts), the scope of additional work, and delivery conditions on-site. At Kakeru Koumuten Co., Ltd., we can also provide rough estimates non-face-to-face from estimates and drawings from other companies, so feel free to use this service if you want to know an estimate first.

STEP 4 Compare estimates

Illustration of a man comparing estimates

Once you have received estimates from multiple contractors, please compare each company’s estimates. The three main points to pay attention to are:

  1. Check if the product name and manufacturer name of the paint are listed
  2. Check if the area (㎡) and unit price are listed
  3. Check if the process and specifications (number of coats) are listed
1 Product Name & Manufacturer

Make sure to check if the product names and manufacturer names for the exterior walls, additional work, and sealing are listed. Be cautious if it only states “silicone paint.”

2 Area & Unit Price

Always check that the painting area of the exterior wall is not abbreviated as “one set.” Contractors that provide detailed area descriptions are likely to have conducted more accurate surveys and can be trusted.

3 Process & Specifications

It is important to clearly define the processes and the number of coats, such as “high-pressure washing,” “substrate repair,” “caulking replacement,” and “primer, intermediate, and top coats.”

If the processes are summarized as “complete painting work” or if the product names for caulking materials or primer are not listed, it is difficult to understand the details, so caution is required.

If you request Kakeru Koumuten Co., Ltd., you can check the flow from inquiry to on-site investigation, estimate, start of construction, and completion on the construction flow page.

Exterior Painting Estimate | Comparison Points by Process

We will explain the processes and items that must be checked in an exterior painting estimate, in order. If the items explained here are not included in the estimate, we recommend confirming with the contractor whether they are part of the work!

*For exterior painting work, it is generally necessary to install temporary scaffolding and mesh sheets to ensure safety and prevent scattering to neighboring areas. Since the conditions vary depending on the shape of the building and the scope of work, we will omit the mention of scaffolding in the subsequent processes.

View the 8 processes of exterior painting in detail by item (tap to open)

1. High-Pressure Washing

We will remove dirt, chalking powder, moss, and algae from the exterior walls and attached parts using high-pressure washing. If the dirt and moss are severe, bio-washing is recommended. Inadequate washing can lead to poor adhesion of the paint and early peeling.

2. Protection

We will protect areas that may get dirty from paint, such as windows, entrances, air conditioning outdoor units, plants, and vehicles.

3. Substrate Repair

We will repair cracks, chips, and lifting of siding, as well as perform rust treatment on metal parts. Be cautious if the estimate does not include substrate repair items, as there is a possibility of painting over deteriorated areas.

4. Caulking Replacement and Addition

It is basic to perform caulking on the joints of siding and around sashes at the same time as exterior painting. What to check is whether it is “replacement” or “addition” and the “type of caulking material.” The basic method is to remove the existing caulking and fill it anew, and using low-durability caulking material can lead to leaks as it may break before the paint. We recommend using high-durability caulking materials (such as Auton Exceed) that match the durability of the paint. Learn more about the costs and construction methods for caulking work

5. Primer

There are various types of primers, and it is necessary to select a primer suitable for the existing exterior materials and conditions. For severely deteriorated exteriors, a penetrating sealer is needed; for mortar with many cracks, a micro-elastic filler; and for difficult-to-adhere siding, a dedicated primer. Using an unsuitable primer can lead to peeling of the paint film. Be sure to check if the product name of the primer is listed in the estimate!

6. Intermediate and Top Coats

Basically, exterior wall painting consists of three coats: a primer, a middle coat, and a top coat. The middle and top coats are applied twice with the same paint to ensure the film thickness specified by the manufacturer. Check whether the estimate includes the “number of coats” and the “product name of the paint,” and ensure that the specified dilution ratio and drying time are being followed.

7. Painting of Accessory Parts

We will paint accessory parts such as rain gutters, eaves, fascia boards, water drainage, canopies, and storm shutters. As explained in POINT 7, check the rank of the paint for accessory parts, the primer used, and the number of coats. If the accessory parts are summarized as “one set,” it is necessary to confirm what is included.

8. Completion Inspection and Scaffold Dismantling

We will dismantle the scaffold after confirming that there are no missed spots, paint splatter, and that the protective coverings have been removed. At Kakeru Koumuten, we allow customers to check the finished work during the completion inspection and provide them with construction photos (before, during, and after the work).

Exterior Wall Painting Costs in Sagamihara City [Kakeru Koumuten’s Price per Square Meter by Plan and Reference Examples]

Knowing “approximately how much it will cost” makes it easier to determine whether an estimate is high or low. Here, we will introduce the price per square meter by plan listed in Kakeru Koumuten’s construction menu, rather than general online market prices.

Kakeru Koumuten Plans Published Prices for Construction Menu
(Exterior Wall Painting Price per ㎡)
Estimated Durability (Years) Suitable Cases
Silicone Plan
(Radical Control)
¥2,200〜/㎡ 12〜15 years Emphasizes balance between cost and durability. Suitable for those planning to move or rebuild within 10 to 15 years.
Premium Silicone Plan
(Radical Control)
¥2,300〜/㎡ 14〜16 years For those who want to enhance weather resistance at a price close to silicone. Ideal for those who prioritize balance between cost and durability.
Heat-Reflective Fluorine Plan ¥3,000〜/㎡ 16〜20 years For those who want to reduce repainting frequency and address summer heat. Also suitable for those who prioritize high weather resistance on sun-exposed surfaces.
Inorganic Plan ¥3,000〜/㎡ 18〜20 years For those planning to live for a long time and want to postpone the next repainting as much as possible.

Reference Estimate: 33.24 tsubo, exterior wall painting area of 149.5㎡, using Silicone REVO1000-IR + high-durability sealing, totaling ¥940,000 including tax (includes temporary scaffolding and painting of ancillary parts, as a reference example from the construction menu).

*The above prices are the price per ㎡ listed in Kakeru Koumuten’s Exterior Wall Painting Construction Menu. The cost for temporary scaffolding for a typical two-story house is around ¥110,000 to ¥130,000, but may vary depending on building shape, area, road conditions, elevation, and horizontal transport. The amount may vary based on building shape, exterior wall area, substrate repairs, sealing quantity, ancillary parts, and delivery conditions, so please confirm the exact amount after a site survey.

Understanding Price per ㎡: Do not judge the total estimate based solely on the price per ㎡; instead, compare including actual measurements of exterior wall area, temporary scaffolding, sealing, ancillary parts, and quantities and specifications of substrate repairs. If the unit price is extremely low, it may be a sign to check if the number of coats is less than two or if the primer or sealing is missing.

Regional Characteristics to Keep in Mind for Exterior Painting in Sagamihara City

Sagamihara City is the second largest city in Kanagawa Prefecture after Yokohama, with significantly different environments across the city, from the urban area around Hashimoto and Sagamihara Station to the mountainous regions of Tsukui, Sagamiko, and Fujino. Compared to coastal areas, it is less affected by salt damage; however, the strong summer sunlight and the humidity and temperature differences in the mountains can lead to exterior wall deterioration. When comparing estimates, be sure to check if the paint and specifications are suitable for “the location of your home.”

Flat Residential Area of Sagaminodai (Chuo-ku, Minami-ku): Strong Sunlight and UV Rays
Planned districts such as Sagamihara Station, Sagami-Ono, and Kobuchi

On exterior walls that receive strong sunlight, such as the south and west sides, chalking (white powder) and fading can progress easily. Compare whether there are proposals for highly weather-resistant radical control type, fluorine, inorganic paints, or heat-reflective paints if the second floor gets hot.

Mountainous Areas of Tsukui, Sagamiko, and Fujino (Western Midori-ku): Humidity, Temperature Differences, and Moss
Areas surrounded by the mountains of Tanzawa and Doshi, with many wooden houses

In mountainous areas, it is more susceptible to cold and humidity compared to urban areas, and north-facing walls and those surrounded by trees are prone to moss, algae, and mold. It is also important to check for cracks and paint film deterioration caused by temperature differences. Confirm whether bio-cleaning before painting, anti-moss and anti-mold paints, and substrate repairs are included in the estimate.

Terraces and Cliffs Along the Sagami River and Sakai River (Minami-ku, Western Chuo-ku, Eastern Midori-ku)
Houses built on the edges of river terraces in Tana, Kamimizo, Shimomizo, and Oshima

Edges of terraces and elevated areas experience strong winds, making rain gutters, fascia boards, and water drainage systems prone to damage. Check the painting range and undercoat materials for these components. For locations with slopes or stairs, confirm whether the costs for transporting materials horizontally and to elevated areas are included in the estimate.

Single-Family Residential Areas Developed in the Showa Era (Common to All Districts)
Mortar exterior walls and early siding that have aged

There are residential areas developed during the Showa era in Sagamihara City, where aging mortar exterior walls may show cracks and siding with direct application methods may exhibit paint film blistering and sealing deterioration. The quantity of substrate repairs and whether the “replacement of sealing” is included in the estimate are key comparison points.

Conclusion | To Avoid Mistakes in Exterior Painting Estimates in Sagamihara City

The following are the 9 key points to pay special attention to when obtaining estimates for exterior painting.

  1. Obtain estimates from at least three companies and compare them with each other
  2. Check if the contents of the estimate differ too much from other companies
  3. Confirm if there is a breakdown of materials and quantities
  4. Check if insurance or subsidies can be used
  5. Verify if the construction details align with your objectives and requests
  6. Check the warranty and after-support details
  7. Confirm the type of paint and number of coats for ancillary parts
  8. Ensure that the paint and primer are suitable for the base material
  9. Verify if the plan is suitable for the location and natural environment of Sagamihara City

By referring to the items introduced this time, it will be easier to distinguish between reputable contractors and those that are not, so please give it a try!

The important thing is to always obtain multiple estimates and never decide based solely on price!

Exterior Wall Painting Estimates in Sagamihara City | Frequently Asked Questions

Is the estimate for exterior wall painting in Sagamihara City free?
Koumuten provides free on-site surveys, inspections, and estimates throughout Sagamihara City (including Midori-ku, Chuo-ku, Minami-ku, Tsukui, Sagamiko, and Fujino areas). We welcome inquiries such as “as one of the estimates” or “I just want an estimate.”
How long does it take from requesting an estimate to receiving it?
The on-site survey takes about 1 hour (measuring the exterior wall area, checking the exterior materials and their deterioration, inspecting sealing and ancillary parts, and taking photographs), and we usually provide the estimate within 3 to 7 days after the survey. We can also create comparative estimates with multiple paint grades such as silicone, radical, fluorine, and inorganic.
What is the construction period for exterior wall painting?
For a two-story building of about 30 tsubo, the period from scaffold setup to dismantling is approximately 10 to 14 days. Painting work cannot be done on rainy days or days with high humidity, so it may be delayed during the rainy season or typhoon season. If done simultaneously with roof painting, it can save on total costs as only one scaffold setup is needed.
Is it okay if there are many “sets” in the estimate for exterior wall painting?
If the painting area and ancillary parts of the exterior are summarized as “sets,” it is unclear what costs are associated with what, and what is included in the work. Request a revised estimate that specifies the area (㎡), unit price, paint product name, and number of coats. Kakeru Koumuten can also neutrally explain the contents of other companies’ estimates.
Should I choose silicone or fluorine?
If you plan to live for about 10 to 15 years, silicone or radical control type paints are recommended. For those planning to stay for over 20 years or in areas with strong sunlight, fluorine or inorganic paints are advisable. When comparing the “total cost over a long-term span,” including the number of repainting (scaffolding costs), high-durability paints may prove to be more economical. We will suggest the optimal grade based on your life plan.
Can I use the subsidy from Sagamihara City for exterior wall painting?
As of September 2026, there are no subsidies for exterior wall painting or heat-insulating painting in Sagamihara City. The long-term excellent housing renovation promotion project that was previously announced will not be implemented in the 8th year of Reiwa. If you are planning to carry out insulation renovations of the exterior walls at the same time as exterior wall painting, you may qualify for the national “Mirai Eco Housing 2026” or Kanagawa Prefecture’s energy-saving renovation subsidy (window renovation is required), but there are specific requirements for both, so please consult us at the estimation stage.
My exterior wall and rain gutter were damaged by a typhoon. Can I use my fire insurance?
Damage to exterior walls and ancillary parts caused by natural disasters such as strong winds, flying objects, and hail may be eligible for fire insurance’s “wind damage compensation” if certain conditions such as contract details, deductible amounts, and damage conditions are met (generally, deterioration due to fading is not covered, and applications must be made within three years of the damage). Kakeru Koumuten will support you with necessary documents for the application, such as taking photos of the damage and creating repair estimates.
A visiting contractor told me that my exterior wall is cracked and dangerous. Is that true?
Be cautious of contractors who rush you into a contract by instilling fear with statements like “It’s dangerous if you don’t paint it right away” or “You can get a discount if you sign now.” Fine hairline cracks may not be urgent, but the judgment varies depending on the width, depth, and location of the cracks, so it is important to check the actual condition. At Kakeru Koumuten, we provide photos of the exterior wall during inspections and honestly inform you whether the work is truly necessary. We also welcome consultations for second opinions.
There is moss on the exterior wall in the Tsukui and Sagamiko area. Can painting address this?
In humid locations in the mountains, by performing bio-cleaning before painting to remove moss and algae down to the roots, and selecting paints with anti-moss and anti-mold properties, you can suppress reoccurrence. If only the north side is deteriorating quickly, we can also propose using different paints for each side. If there are cracks due to winter freezing, please consider substrate repairs and re-sealing as well.

自信をもって、宣言できます。私たちは、神奈川で一番若くて親切なリフォーム屋です!
