A customer residing in Musashimurayama City contacted us saying, “I have received a proposal for roof replacement work from another company, and I would like to request a quote for a comparative estimate!” We prepared a quote with four patterns of roofing materials, and they entrusted us with the work using the “Dan Netsu Top,” which is made of Galvalume steel and has insulation properties.

They expressed concern about the weight and preferred a roof replacement, but since they wanted the work to last about 20 years, we proposed using the Tadi Self roofing sheet!

Roof Replacement Construction Procedure

1. Demolition of Existing Ridge and Snow Stops

We will dismantle the existing roofing materials! Asbestos-containing roofing materials will be double-wrapped and transported to the disposal site.

2. New Sheathing Installation

After dismantling the existing roofing materials, we will process and install new sheathing (structural plywood) to fit the dimensions!

3. Roofing Installation (Waterproof Sheet)

We will install roofing sheets (waterproof sheets) over the underlayment! The roofing used is Tajima Roofing / Tadi Self.

This material is a delayed adhesive modified asphalt roofing, which is said to have twice the durability of regular asphalt roofing.

As long as the roofing is properly installed, it will prevent leaks as a secondary waterproofing measure! We will ensure it is securely adhered to prevent it from blowing away.

3.Accessory Processing (Karukusa, Keraba, Tani)

Before the main roof construction, we process accessories such as keraba and karukusa! The materials used for the accessories aregalvalume steel.

4. Main Construction (Sekino Kousan / Dan Netsu Top 8-1)

After processing the accessories, we will install the Dan Netsu Top 8-1 roofing up to the ridge!

Once the roofing is completed up to the ridge, we will install the necessary materials to secure the ridge cap, known as the kanban. There are various types of kanban, including cedar, resin, and galvalume steel, and this time we used a resin type!
The resin type is expected to have twice the durability compared to the cedar type!

5. Rain Guard Processing

We will process and install a component called a rain stop flashing at the wall edge. We use stainless steel nails and screws that are resistant to rust for fastening!

Unlike nails, screws with packing are less likely to come loose and securely fasten the ridge flashing to the wood!

Although it is not visible after installation,
the waterproofing is enhanced by installing a face plate inside the ridge flashing!
This firmly protects the ridge, which is a critical area of the roof.

5. Cleaning

We will clean up any debris that has fallen onto balconies and other areas. We will thoroughly remove items like nails and metal scraps that could cause injuries. Additionally, we will wipe away any footprints left on the roof to keep it clean.

About Roofing Materials

This time, we used Sekino Kousan’s Dan Netsu Top 8-1 as the roofing material.

Dan Netsu Top is made of Galvalume steel, which has excellent durability, and comes with a manufacturer’s coating warranty! The warranty period is,15 years for the coating and 25 years for perforation.

While it looks very similar to Hirambi, Dan Netsu Top comes with polyethylene foam insulation as a standard feature, not as an option. Additionally, we also provide a 10-year construction warranty!

Features of Dan Netsu Top 8-1

Lightweight and earthquake-resistant, this roofing material offers overwhelming lightness and robust fastening, making it strong against earthquakes. Additionally, it is easy to install, which improves work efficiency.

Furthermore, it features heat-insulating GL steel sheets + insulation effect. With high corrosion-resistant GL steel sheets and insulation materials, it excels in thermal insulation, soundproofing, and strength!
