This is an inquiry from a customer living in Higashiyamato City.
"The building is over 12 years old, and I am concerned about the deterioration of the joints and the exterior wall, so I would like an estimate."
"I am considering changing the color of the exterior wall, so if color simulation is possible, please let me know."

We created estimates in 4 patterns, including fluorine and inorganic paints, and explained the advantages and disadvantages of each!
This time, we entrusted the exterior wall painting using "Premium Silicon," which has a high durability and excellent cost performance!

We proceeded with the construction after confirming the expected completion through color simulation!

Joint Replacement Construction Procedure

1. Removal of Existing Sealing Material

We will remove the existing sealing material using a cutter or similar tool. It is referred to as sealing, caulking, or joints. This area is crucial as it can easily lead to water leaks and can cause cracking or lifting of the siding. Cracks and peeling are signs of deterioration!

2. Masking Tape Application

Check the position to apply the tape and carefully stick it on without digging into the surface.

3. Application of Primer

Apply the primer with a brush or similar tool, ensuring there are no missed spots.

4. Filling with Sealant

Next, apply the sealant. Position the nozzle of the caulking gun at the bottom of the joint and fill it sufficiently.

The sealant used this time is Penguin / 2-component polyurethane seal. Polyurethane sealants have high adhesion, are inexpensive, and offer excellent cost performance. However, they have disadvantages such as low weather resistance, vulnerability to UV rays, and a tendency to attract dust, so protection with paint is necessary when used outdoors.

The durability is approximately 10 to 15 years, making it a cost-effective material!

5. Finishing with a Trowel

Use a trowel that matches the width of the joint to press firmly and finish smoothly.

6. Removal of Masking Tape

We will promptly remove the masking tape after finishing.

Exterior Painting Work Procedure

1. High-Pressure Washing

First, we thoroughly remove dirt and moss from the exterior walls using high-pressure washing! If dirt remains, it can affect the adhesion and durability of the paint, so we wash carefully. We also wash the exterior structures, flooring, and inside the rain gutters.

2. Surface Preparation

After high-pressure washing, we assess the condition of the exterior walls and perform surface preparation such as crack repairs.

3. Masking of Areas

Next, we use masking tape, blue sheets, and polymer masks to cover areas such as windows, sashes, and floors that will not be painted. This is a very important task in the painting process!

Neglecting masking can create gaps, allowing paint to seep in or resulting in uneven lines.

4. Primer Application

This is the first step of applying paint after high-pressure washing and substrate treatment. It is a primer that ensures that the middle and top coats adhere well to the painted surface. By applying the primer thoroughly, there will be a significant difference in durability and finish!

The primer for the siding surface is SK Kaken’s water-based SD Surf Epoxy Premium. It also has substrate adjustment functions, sealing fine cracks!

5. Middle Coat

Next is the middle coat. This is an important process to bring out the performance of the paint, achieve a beautiful finish, and eliminate unevenness!

6. Top Coat

Next is the top coat. This is the finishing touch for the exterior wall painting. We will focus on ensuring there are no uneven areas or missed spots, achieving a beautiful finish!

The paint used is SK Kaken’s Escape Premium Silicon. The manufacturer’s expected durability is said to be about 14 to 16 years.

7. Painting of Auxiliary Parts (Drip Edge Metal, Rain Gutter, Eaves, Fascia, Soffit, Drain Pipe, Shutter Box)

After finishing the surface preparation such as scraping for the attached parts, if it is a metal part, we apply a rust preventive primer, followed by an intermediate coat and a top coat using Yumelock. We ensure that every detail is thoroughly painted!
