Exterior Painting Construction Procedure

1. High-Pressure Washing

First, we thoroughly remove dirt and moss from the exterior walls using high-pressure washing! If any dirt remains, it can affect the adhesion and durability of the paint, so we wash carefully. We also wash the exterior structures, floors, and inside the rain gutters as well.

2. Protection of Various Areas

After the high-pressure washing is complete, we protect areas that will not be painted, such as windows, sashes, and floors, using masking tape, blue sheets, and polymer masks. This is a very important task in the painting process!

Neglecting protection can create gaps, allowing paint to seep in or resulting in uneven lines.

3. Surface Preparation

Next, we perform surface preparation, such as crack repairs, while assessing the deterioration of the exterior walls.

4. Primer Application

This is the first step of applying paint after high-pressure washing and surface preparation. The primer ensures that the middle and top coats adhere properly to the surface. A well-applied primer makes a significant difference in durability and finish!

The primer for the siding is SK Kaken’s water-based SD Surf Epoxy Premium. It also has surface preparation properties, sealing fine cracks!

5. Middle Coat

Next is the middle coating. This is an important process to bring out the performance of the paint, achieve a beautiful finish, and eliminate unevenness!

6. Top Coating

Next is the top coating. This will be the finishing touch for the exterior wall painting. We will be mindful to ensure there are no uneven areas or missed spots, resulting in a beautiful finish!

We used the SK Kaken’s Escape Premium Silicon paint. The manufacturer’s expected durability is said to be about 14 to 16 years.
