Ridge Cap Replacement Procedure
1. Existing Ridge Demolition
We will remove the old ridge cap and the wooden batten inside the ridge. Care is taken not to break the roofing materials during this process.
This time, it was quite corroded.
We recommend replacing the wooden batten inside every 10 to 15 years.
When the ridge cap is removed, there is a batten inside.
2. Installation of New Batten
We will install a new purlin. There are also resin purlins available, which are resistant to corrosion. (Tough Mock, Eco Lumber, etc.)
This time, we used Tough Mock!
3. Sealing the ridge cap joints
We apply sealing on the inside of the overlaps to enhance strength and waterproofing.
4. Installation of new ridge cap
We will process and install the ends and joints.
5. Cleaning up and completion!
That’s all!
This time, the leak prevention work was the ridge cap construction!
