This time, at Toin Gakuen (High School) in Aoba-ku, Yokohama,

we collaborated with students for the school festival (cultural festival)

human-powered merry-go-round!

Thank you very much for entrusting us with the performance for the school festival!

Human-Powered Merry-Go-Round

During discussions about the school festival’s performance, a student suggested a merry-go-round they found on YouTube.

It turns out it was ahuman-powered merry-go-round made from scaffolding materials! (It’s a combination of a merry-go-round and a seesaw.)

Until we heard about it, we never imagined such a thing could be made from scaffolding materials, so it was a learning experience for us! (Laughs) Since there was no media coverage on how to make it, it was a creation that couldn’t be easily made without knowledge and materials.

We were very happy to have the opportunity to assist in the creation of this unknown human-powered merry-go-round, and we gladly collaborated!

We spent two out of three days working on the production!

We also introduced it on Kakeru Koumuten’s YouTube!

Please take a look!

【School Festival】We made a human-powered merry-go-round!

Process of Making the Human-Powered Merry-Go-Round

Materials Used

・Single pipe

・Rolling caster

・Single pipe clamp

・Board (for seats)

・Screws

・Tires, etc.

Material Transportation

First, we started with material transportation after greeting the students! Since we had to go up the stairs to the classroom, carrying heavy single pipes was quite a labor-intensive task, but everyone actively helped carry the materials, so the transportation went smoothly!

Merry-Go-Round Base

Next, we started building the base, first laying down boards to protect the floor! We attached casters to the base, installing four on each side to allow it to rotate, and secured them in place!

We progressed together with the students by cutting pipes and using hammers to balance everything. Although there was a lot of physical work, everyone was enjoying themselves, and I was very happy to see that even the girls participated actively!

Merry-Go-Round Main Body

Once the base was completed, we started working on the main body! It was closer to the ceiling than we expected, so we adjusted the length and reinforced it, and thanks to everyone’s cooperation, we were able to complete the main body on the first day!

Although the seating part was not yet finished, I was relieved that the rotation, which is the essence of the merry-go-round, could move smoothly without any issues!

Merry-Go-Round Decoration (Seats)

On the second day, we created the seating part of the merry-go-round! Since this is where people will sit, we secured it well and reinforced it carefully to prevent it from breaking due to movement!

The students took the initiative to cut the wood, so the employees took on the role of watchful observers! (laughs)

Human-Powered Merry-Go-Round Completed

We placed sponge covers on the seating area to prevent injuries, and after securing the seats and wheels, we finally have the Human-Powered Merry-Go-Round Completed!

It was able to operate smoothly even with two adult men (27 years old) riding on it! It was quite high and provided a lot of fun!

The students also got to try it out, and it seems they enjoyed it, so they can participate in the school festival with peace of mind!

On the day of the event, we also got to peek at the cultural festival, and there was a long line, making it a great success!

I was very happy to receive a message board from all the classmates!
I will display it in the office. (laughs)

Thank you very much for choosing our company!
