This is a case study of a roof renovation project in Isohama-ku, Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture.
The work involved a roof overlay (cover method) using Super Galtect!

Roof Overlay (Cover Method) Construction Steps

1. Demolition of Existing Ridge and Snow Stops

We will dismantle unnecessary parts (ridge flashing) for the overlay method!The durability of wooden purlins is about 10 to 15 years. Exceeding the durability period can lead to corrosion and discoloration, resulting in the ridge flashing coming loose or being blown away.

2. Laying Roofing (Waterproof Sheet)

This time, we used a modified asphalt roofing material, which is said to have double the durability of standard asphalt roofing.
As long as the roofing is solid for its primary waterproofing role, there will be no leaks!
We will ensure it is firmly attached to prevent it from flying off.

3. Fabrication of Accessories (Karakusa, Keraba, Tani)

Before the main roofing work, we will fabricate and install accessories such as keraba and karakusa!
The accessories used are genuine Galtect accessories made of SGL copper plate.

4. Main Construction (Aiji Industrial Super Galtect)

After fabricating the accessories, we will lay the Galtect main body up to the ridge! We will also process flat metal sheets around the skylight.
Once we have laid the roofing up to the ridge, we will install necessary materials called “kanbari” to secure the ridge cap. There are two types of kanbari: cedar and resin, and this time we used the resin type!
The resin type is expected to have twice the durability compared to the cedar type!

5. Processing of Ridge Cap

Next, we will process and install the ridge cap. We will thoroughly apply sealing on the inside of the joints. For the wall edges, we will process and install materials called rain stop metal.
We will use stainless steel nails and screws that are resistant to rust!

6. Cleaning

We will clean up any debris that has fallen onto the balcony and rain gutters. We will thoroughly remove nails and metal scraps to prevent injuries. Additionally, we will wipe away any footprints left on the roof to keep it clean.
This concludes the construction!

The roofing material used is the Super Galtect from Aijii Industry.
The Super Galtect comes with a manufacturer warranty of 15 years for the coating and 25 years for perforation.

Made of SGL steel plate, it is resistant to rust.
Insulation material is tightly applied from edge to edge of the roofing material, creating a metal plate that integrates the steel plate and insulation.
When installed, insulation is applied even to the parts where the roofing materials overlap, and the surface is coated with a high heat-reflective paint, allowing for a cool summer and a warm winter.
Additionally, it has soundproofing properties, reducing the sound of rain.
Being lighter compared to other roofing materials, it also minimizes the sway during earthquakes, contributing to earthquake resistance.
It excels in finish, durability, insulation, soundproofing, and wind resistance, and the Super Galtect from Aijii Industry is the most frequently used in our construction achievements and is gaining significant attention!
