This is a case study of an exterior renovation project in Asahi-ku, Yokohama.
The work this time includes a roof overlay (cover method) using Super Galtect and the replacement of the entrance and eaves!

〇Roof
We performed a roof overlay (cover method) from an asbestos-containing slate roof to Super Galtect. Due to the severe deterioration of the roofing material, we proposed the overlay method as painting would not provide long-lasting results!

Entrance and Eaves ReplacementConstruction Steps

1. Demolition of Entrance Tiles and Eaves

First, we will dismantle and remove the entrance tiles and eaves!

2. Waterproof Sheet Installation (Vapor-Permeable Waterproof Sheet)

Next, we will apply the moisture-permeable waterproof sheet! We are using SUPER Coat MAX! This moisture-permeable waterproof sheet maintains stable waterproofing and moisture permeability.
Additionally, since it uses non-woven fabric as the base material, it has a strong grip for the tacker needles, ensuring stable strength.

3. Exterior Wall Plastering Work

Next, we will level the mortar! The application of mortar is not done in one go but in stages. After finishing the base coat, we will let it dry and then level it further!

4. Installation of Eaves Ceiling Mounting Hardware

We are in the middle of leveling the mortar, but we will install the hardware for replacing the eaves ceiling! The eaves ceiling we will use this time is Kojima Chemical Industry/Altezart Red Cedar Aging!

5. Eaves Ceiling Installation

Next, after finishing the installation of the hardware, we will proceed with the installation of the eaves ceiling itself! Since the hardware will be visible at the eaves, we will cover it with a material called finishing trim.

Once the eaves ceiling installation and mortar leveling are complete, the work will be finished.

Roof Overlay Construction Procedure

1. Existing Roof Ridge Flashing

We will dismantle unnecessary parts (ridge cap) for the roof overlay (cover method)! The durability of wooden purlins is about 10 to 15 years. Exceeding the durability period can lead to corrosion and discoloration, resulting in the ridge cap coming loose or being blown away.

2. Roofing Installation (Waterproof Sheet)

The roofing used is Jouyu Pulp Industry/Sunlight G!
It is made of modified asphalt roofing, which is said to have double the durability of regular asphalt roofing.
With its role as primary waterproofing, if the roofing is solid, there will be no leaks!
We will ensure it is securely attached to prevent it from blowing away.

3. Component Processing (Curly Patterns, Eaves, Valleys)

Before the main roof construction, we will process components such as eaves and curly patterns!

The components used are the genuine parts of Galttect, made from SGL copper plate!

4. Main Construction (Aiji Industrial/Super Galttect)

After processing the components, we will install the Galttect main body up to the ridge!
Once the installation reaches the ridge, we will place the necessary materials to secure the ridge cap, known as purlins. There are types made of cedar and resin, and this time we used the resin type!
The resin type is expected to have twice the durability compared to the cedar type!

5. Ridge Cap Processing and Sealing at Various Locations

Next, we will process and install the ridge cap. We will thoroughly apply sealing on the inside of the joints. At the wall edge, we will process and install a component called a rain guard metal.
We use stainless steel nails and screws that are resistant to rust!

6. Cleaning

We will clean up any debris that has fallen onto the balcony and rain gutters. We will thoroughly remove items like nails and metal scraps that could cause injuries. Additionally, we will wipe away any footprints left on the roof to keep it clean.

About Roofing Materials

The roofing material used is the Super Galtect from Aijie Industry.
The Super Galtect comes with a manufacturer warranty of 15 years for the coating and 25 years for perforation.
We also provide a 10-year construction warranty!
Made of SGL steel plate, it is resistant to rust.
Insulation material is tightly applied from edge to edge of the roofing material, creating a metal plate that integrates the steel plate and insulation.
When installed, insulation is applied even to the parts where the roofing materials overlap, and the surface is coated with a high heat-reflective paint, allowing for a cool summer and a warm winter.
It also has soundproofing properties, reducing the sound of rain.
Additionally, it is lightweight compared to other roofing materials, which minimizes shaking during earthquakes, making it a good earthquake countermeasure.
It excels in finish, durability, insulation, soundproofing, and wind resistance, and the Super Galtect from Aijie Industry is the most frequently used in our construction projects and is receiving significant attention!
