The ridge cap is the metal covering that protects areas of the roof where roofing materials cannot be placed, such as the peak of the roof.
It is susceptible to damage from wind disasters and can cause leaks.

Procedure for Replacing Ridge Flashing
1. Dismantling Existing Ridge
Remove the old ridge flashing and the internal wooden batten. Care should be taken not to break the roofing material during this process.
This time, it was quite corroded.
It is recommended to replace the internal wooden batten every 10 to 15 years.
Once the ridge flashing is removed, there is a batten inside.

2. Installing New Batten
Install a new batten. This time, we used a cedar batten, but there are also corrosion-resistant resin battens (Tough Mock, Eco Lumber) available.

3. Sealing Ridge Flashing Joints
Seal the inside of the overlaps to enhance strength and waterproofing.
4. Installing New Ridge Flashing
Process the ends and joints for installation.

5. Clean Up and Finish!
Procedure for Replacing Rain Gutters
1. Dismantling Existing Eaves and Downspouts
Remove the eaves and brackets carefully to avoid damaging the fascia.

2. Installing New Eaves Brackets
We will install new eaves brackets. When installing the eaves brackets, we will use kite string or chalk lines to set the slope of the rain gutter with the brackets. The slope of the rain gutter is important!

One point to note is that due to the fascia (where the eaves brackets were installed) or the building’s distortion, even if you set the slope with the brackets, it may cause backflow. It is important to check the slope with a level against the eaves before attaching the brackets!
3. Installation of eaves and vertical gutters
We will install new eaves and vertical gutters!

4. Connecting vertical and eaves gutters
We will connect the vertical gutter and the eaves gutter.

5. Water flow test, cleaning, and completion!
That’s all!
The eaves gutter used this time is Panasonic/Iron round!
It has strength because it contains a steel plate inside!
This rain leak prevention work included ridge cap work and eaves gutter replacement work!
