This is a case study of exterior renovations in Hachioji City, Tokyo.

1. High-Pressure Washing

We thoroughly remove dirt and moss with high-pressure washing of the exterior walls!

2. Protection of various parts

We will protect areas that will not be painted, such as windows, sashes, and floors, using masking tape, blue sheets, and polymer masks. This is a very important task in the painting process! If protection is neglected, gaps may form, allowing paint to seep in, or clean lines may not be achieved.

3. Primer

This is the first application of paint after high-pressure washing and substrate treatment, ensuring that the middle and top coats adhere well to the painted surface. Proper application of the primer greatly affects durability and finish!

4. Middle coat

This is an important process to bring out the performance of the paint, achieve a beautiful finish, and eliminate uneven application!

5. Top coat

This is the finishing touch for exterior wall painting. We pay close attention to ensure there are no uneven spots or missed areas, resulting in a beautiful finish! The paint used is from SK Kaken / Premium Silicon!

6. Painting of Additional Parts (Fascia, Shutters, and Eaves)

Rain Gutter Replacement Work Procedure

1. Dismantling Existing Rain Gutters

We will remove the eaves gutter and brackets carefully to avoid damaging the fascia!

2. Installation of new eaves brackets

We will install new eaves brackets. When installing the brackets, we will use kite string or chalk lines to set the slope of the rain gutter, as the slope is crucial!

3. Installation of eaves gutter and vertical gutter

We will install the new eaves gutter!

4. Connection to vertical gutter

We will connect the newly installed vertical gutter to the eaves gutter!

5. Water flow test and cleaning to complete!

That’s all!
This time, we also received a request for exterior wall painting work, so we removed the eaves gutter before starting the painting work and installed the new rain gutter after the painting was completed!

For the eaves gutter, we used Panasonic/Iron Round 105.
It has a steel plate inside, providing strength.

Procedure for Repairing the Eaves

1. Remove the existing plaster

If the existing plaster remains and new plaster is applied on top, it will peel off quickly. Therefore, we thoroughly remove and clean it.

2. Prepare and moisten the base soil

We prepare the base soil to ensure the plaster can be applied evenly. Once the base is ready, we spray water on the base soil to ensure the plaster adheres properly.

3. Apply new plaster

We apply the plaster in an appropriate amount so that it does not protrude from its original position (not exceeding the roof surface).
If too much is applied and it protrudes from the roof, rainwater will hit it, causing the plaster to crumble.
The plaster used this time is Nanban plaster Silguard!
Once it hardens, it becomes quite durable!

4. Cleaning

That completes the process!

Compared to the existing plaster, it has become much sturdier and tougher!
Although it’s just plaster, I personally think it looks cooler now! (laughs)
