We hope to assist those who are troubled by exterior wall painting (exterior wall color) in deciding on colors,

and we will introduce the steps for deciding on exterior wall painting (exterior wall color)

along with some reference color combination examples!

Color Coordination

First of all, the exterior walls make up a large part of the appearance of your home. What kind of home do you want when painting the exterior walls?

For example…

A home with a unique personality that stands out from the surroundings.

A home with a warm atmosphere.

A cool and stylish home.

Many of you may already have an image of your desired home.

The time spent choosing colors is enjoyable, isn’t it? However, many people find themselves overwhelmed with choices and end up worrying too much.

Exterior wall painting has a lifespan of about 10 years, so if you think you made a mistake, you will have to live with that feeling of uncertainty until the next painting.

Since the appearance of your home is something you see every day, it is important to carefully decide on the color combinations.

Here, we will introduce some points for color coordination (choosing exterior wall colors) that can be useful when you are struggling with color combinations! If you are having trouble choosing colors, please use this as a reference.

① Decide on the color scheme

The first point is to decide on a color scheme that matches the image of your desired home.

Simple and gentle image

Similar colors are easy to harmonize, creating a bright and calm first impression. A classic style that everyone loves.

Deep and Calm Image

Deep and calm colors have a strong presence and a sense of stability. Colors that remain popular even as times change.

② Easy-to-Harmonize Color Combinations

The second point is to combine colors that are easy to harmonize and have a balanced tone.

Easy-to-harmonize colors = colors with similar characteristics

Be careful, as it is easy to mistake similar colors = harmony.

If the colors are too similar, it can create a lack of contrast and a vague impression, but combining colors with similar characteristics creates a sense of unity, so it is recommended!

Colors that have a refreshing feel

③ Limit the Number of Colors

The third point is to limit the colors used on the exterior walls to 2-3 colors.

By limiting the number of colors, the theme becomes clear, shaping the impression of your home.

Example of Exterior Wall Colors: Using 2 Colors

By narrowing it down to 2 colors, the appearance becomes simple, making color coordination easier.

Example of Exterior Wall Colors: Using 4 Colors

Using too many colors can disrupt the overall balance at first glance.

If you want to use more than four colors, unifying them with similar shades that have little difference will create a sense of cohesion.

Recommended Color Schemes (Two-Tone)

Based on our experience with exterior wall painting, we have picked out some recommended exterior wall color combinations!

If you find a color you like, please refer to the colors listed below the photos!

Warm Colors

This is a calm color scheme combined with brown tones. It has a strong presence, which is great.

This creates an active image by using a simple white base with a stronger color in the center!

Recommended Color Styles (Monochrome)

In the above section, we introduced recommended color combinations for exterior walls, but next, we will present recommendations for monochrome styles! Depending on the house, balconies may be made of wood, so we will take that into account as well!

When You Want a Urban Feel

When you think of the city, think stylish. We achieved a stylish look with black and white.

Next is blue and white. This also has a cool vibe and an urban feel.

Warm Monochrome Style

A warm and inviting brown. By choosing a brown-toned door, a harmonious color scheme is created.
A soft hue that doesn’t overly emphasize white. It has a slight yellowish tint. By opting for a deeper brown door, a sense of unity is achieved.

Wood × Solid Color (Gentle & Warmth)

Color coordination for homes with wooden verandas or balconies. (This will be a color coordination that resembles wood.)

Even without wood, you can showcase colors effectively!

Three Recommended Color Combinations!

Finally, I would like to introduce my personal recommendations (the colors I would choose for my own home!)☺

Exterior Wall Color: Brown Series × White

Personally, when it comes to warmth, this classic brown × white combination is the best. It evokes a sense of gentleness that warms the heart. The girly atmosphere makes it feel like you’ll naturally want to invest in gardening!

Exterior Wall Color: Brown × Blue

The warmth of brown within a stylish design creates a fashionable atmosphere that catches the eye. It’s great that it can blend into both urban settings and nature-rich towns.

Exterior Wall Color: White × Black

The contrast in colors becomes addictive. It has a sharpness that captures attention with its presence. It evokes an urban image that feels untouched by anything, which is quite appealing!

Color Simulation

We have introduced color simulation software to help you easily visualize different exterior wall colors based on your home’s photo! This allows you to simulate various exterior wall colors with just one photo of your residence.

You can simulate the actual building’s photo on your smartphone, iPhone, or computer!

If you’re unsure about which exterior wall color to choose or want to try different color combinations, please feel free to consult with us!

While color simulation is just that—a simulation—why not give it a try with your own home?

It might spark your imagination and make choosing an exterior wall color even more enjoyable!

We also have articles introducing color simulation, so please take a look at those as well.
