Ridge Cap Replacement Procedure
1. Existing Ridge Demolition
We will remove the old ridge cap and the wooden batten inside the ridge. Care is taken not to break the roofing materials during this process.
This time, it was quite corroded.
We recommend replacing the wooden batten inside every 10 to 15 years.
Once the ridge cap is removed, you will find the batten inside.
2. New Batten Installation
We will install a new batten. This time, we used a cedar batten, but there are also batten options made of durable resin (Tough Mock, Eco Lumber) that are resistant to corrosion.
3. Sealing the Ridge Cap Joints
We will apply sealing on the inside of the overlaps to enhance strength and waterproofing.
4. Installing New Ridge Caps
We will process and install the ends and joints.
5. Cleaning Up and Completion!
That’s all!
