Roof Repair (Roof Overlay Construction) Procedure

1. Demolition of Existing Ridge and Snow Stops

We will dismantle unnecessary parts (ridge cap) for the roof overlay! The durability of wooden purlins is about 10 to 15 years.
Exceeding the durability period can lead to corrosion and discoloration, resulting in the ridge cap coming loose or being blown away.
The snow stops will be cut at the base with scissors. If cut with rotating tools like grinders, iron dust will scatter, so we will remove them with specialized scissors.

2. Roofing Installation (Waterproof Sheet)

We will lay the roofing sheet (waterproof sheet) on the substrate! The roofing used isTajima Roofing / Tadi Self Cover.

Tadi Self Cover is a roofing sheet specifically designed for the overlay method. When covering weak slates such as Resas or Colonial NEO, we recommend using the specialized roofing Tadi Self Cover! It is said to have three times the durability compared to regular asphalt roofing, with a durability of about 30 years. Since it is a self-adhesive roofing that does not require fixing and does not create holes, it has high waterproofing properties and has a durability close to Super Galtect. This provides peace of mind!

As long as the roofing is solid, it will not leak!

3. Component Processing (Curly Patterns & Eaves)

Before the main roofing work, we will process and install accessories such as eaves and decorative brackets!

The accessories used are genuine Galtect accessories made of SGL steel plate!

4. Main Construction (Aiji Industrial / Super Galtect)

After processing the accessories, we will install the Galtect main roofing up to the ridge!
Once the roofing is completed up to the ridge, we will install necessary materials to secure the ridge cap, known as “kanban.” We offer three types of kanban: cedar, resin, and Galvalume steel, and this time we used the Galvalume steel version!
The Galvalume steel version is expected to have three times the durability compared to the cedar version! Unlike resin and cedar, it does not crack, providing peace of mind!

Our original integrated waste board made of Galvalume steel for the ridge base is,
highly durable with excellent fixing power and outstanding wind resistance!
Even if rainwater enters from the ridge, it has a mechanism to discharge rainwater to the outside, demonstrating
high waterproof performance!
It is perfect for the Super Galtect ridge base!

5. Ridge Cap Processing and Sealing at Various Locations

Next, we will process and install the ridge cap. We will firmly apply sealing on the inside of the joints. At the wall edge, we will process and install a component called a rain guard metal. We will use stainless steel screws that are resistant to rust for fastening!

Unlike nails, screws with packing are less likely to come loose and securely fix the ridge cap to the wood!

 

Although it is not visible after installation,
by attaching a face plate inside the ridge cap, we enhance waterproofing!
We will thoroughly protect the ridge, which is a critical part of the roof.

5. Cleaning

We will clean up any debris that has fallen onto balconies and other areas. We will conduct a thorough cleaning to prevent injuries from nails and metal scraps. Additionally, we will wipe off any footprints that may have appeared on the roof to keep it clean.

About the Roofing Material

The roofing material used is Ai-G Co., Ltd.’s Super Galtect.

Super Galtect comes with a 15-year paint warranty and a 25-year hole warranty!

Additionally, we provide a 10-year construction warranty.

Made of SGL steel plate, it is resistant to rust. Insulation material is thoroughly applied from end to end of the roofing material, creating a metal plate that integrates steel and insulation.

When installed, insulation is applied even to the parts where the roofing materials overlap, and the surface is coated with a highly heat-reflective paint, allowing for a cool summer and a warm winter. It also has soundproofing properties, reducing the sound of rain.

Moreover, it is lightweight compared to other roofing materials, which minimizes the sway during an earthquake, providing earthquake resistance.

It excels in finish, durability, insulation, soundproofing, and wind resistance, and our construction records show that the Super Galtect from Aijii Industry is the most popular, receiving considerable attention!
