We received an inquiry from a customer in Aoba-ku, Yokohama, stating, “There is a leak from the skylight, so I would like to request leak repair.” The existing roofing material is Nichiha/Pamir, which is very brittle and is classified as non-paintable roofing material. After explaining the condition and existing roofing material, the customer entrusted us with the roof overlay (cover method) using Super Galtect! Nichiha/Pamir is classified as a brittle slate roofing material, and when covering a brittle slate roof, it is necessary to use a specialized roofing sheet. For the ridge base, we used Galvalume steel, which has a durability of over 30 years, close to that of Super Galtect! |

Roof Repair (Roof Overlay Construction) Procedure
1. Demolition of Existing Ridge and Snow Stops
Exceeding the durability period can lead to corrosion and discoloration, resulting in the detachment and scattering of the ridge flashing.
2. Laying Roofing (Waterproof Sheet)
Tadis Self Cover is a roofing sheet specifically designed for the cover method, as the name suggests. When covering fragile slates like Resas and Colonial NEO, we recommend using the dedicated roofing sheet, Tadis Self Cover! It is said to have three times the durability compared to regular asphalt roofing, with a lifespan of about 30 years. Its adhesive roofing provides high waterproofing, and it has a durability close to Super Galtect, so you can feel secure!
As long as the roofing is solid for its primary waterproofing role, there will be no leaks! We will securely attach it with steel plate chips to prevent it from blowing away.
3.Accessory Processing (Karakusa and Keraba)
The accessories used are genuine Galtect accessories made of SGL copper plate!
4. Main Construction (Aiji Industrial / Super Galtect)
While constructing the main body, we will also install the genuine Super Galtect snow guard.
Once we have installed up to the ridge, we will set up the necessary materials to fix the ridge board, known as the kanban. We offer three types of kanban: cedar, resin, and Galvalume steel, and this time we used the Galvalume steel type!
The Galvalume steel type is expected to have a lifespan of over 30 years durability compared to the cedar type!
5. Ridge Cap Processing and Sealing at Various Locations
We will firmly apply sealing on the inside of the joints. Since there was a skylight, we also performed metal processing for the skylight in conjunction with the roof overlay method!The screws used for fixing are stainless steel packing screws that are resistant to rust! We will also apply new sealing around the skylight glass to enhance waterproofing.
Unlike nails, packing screws are less likely to pull out and securely fix the ridge cap to the purlin!
Although it is not visible after construction,
installing men-do on the inside of the ridge cap enhances waterproofing!
It firmly protects the ridge, which is a critical point of the roof.
5. Cleaning
About the Roofing Material
The roofing material used is Ai-Gi Industrial’s Super Galtect.
Super Galtect comes with a 15-year paint warranty and a 25-year hole warranty!
Additionally, we also provide a 10-year construction warranty.
Made of SGL steel plate, it is resistant to rust. Insulation material is tightly adhered from end to end of the roofing material, creating a metal plate that integrates steel and insulation.
When installed, insulation is applied even to the parts where the roofing materials overlap, and the surface is coated with high heat-reflective paint, allowing for a cool summer and warm winter. It also has soundproofing properties, reducing the sound of rain.
Moreover, it is lightweight compared to other roofing materials, which reduces the sway during earthquakes, making it a good earthquake countermeasure.
It excels in finish, durability, insulation, soundproofing, and wind resistance, and our company’s construction achievements show that Ai-Gi Industrial’s Super Galtect is the most used and highly regarded!
