Roof Repair (Roof Overlay Work) Construction Procedure

1. Temporary Removal of Solar Panels

We will dismantle the solar panels and the base rack. Since we will be replacing it with a dedicated Galttect rack, all existing base racks and fittings will be disposed of. As the slate roof rack is fixed by making holes in the roof, we will repair the holes with caulking after the rack is removed. The removed solar panels will be carefully stored in our warehouse.

2. Roofing Installation (Waterproof Sheet)

The roofing used is Tajima Roofing/Tadi Self Cover!
It is a self-adhesive roofing with high waterproofing properties and a durability of 30 years, making it a highly durable roofing sheet!
This roofing sheet is specifically designed for the cover method of fragile slate, and since its durability matches that of Super Galttect, it is a great fit!

3. Component Processing (Curly Patterns and Eaves)

Before the main roof construction, we will process and install components such as eaves and curly patterns!
The components used are genuine Galttect components made of SGL copper plate! During the roof cover method, the roof will be higher than the existing one, which can cause rainwater to overflow the rain gutter. When using the cover method, it is necessary to either adjust the rain gutter or use a set-back type of curly pattern to prevent overflow.

4. Main Construction (Aiji Industrial/Super Galttect)

After processing the components, we will install the main roofing materials from the eaves to the ridge. The fasteners for the main materials include nails and screws, and this time we used Aiji Industrial’s roofing renovation screws. Securing roofing materials with screws increases wind resistance compared to using nails.

The screws for renovation from Aiji Industrial, the manufacturer of Super Galtect, are specifically designed for the roof overlay method, providing high holding power and improved wind resistance.
These are recommended for buildings in areas with strong winds or locations exposed to wind!

5. Installation of Ridge Underlayment (Nukiita)

We will install the ridge underlayment necessary to secure the ridge flashing at the ridge line. We offer three types of nukiita (ridge underlayment): cedar, resin, and Galvalume steel, and we used the Galvalume steel type!

The Galvalume steel ridge underlayment is unbreakable, providing high wind resistance and a durability of over 30 years, making it a compatible choice with Super Galtect!

6. Processing of Ridge Flashing and Sealing at Various Locations

Next, we will process and install the ridge flashing. We will thoroughly apply sealing on the inside of the joints. The screws used for fixing are made of stainless steel, which is resistant to rust!

We will install a flat faceplate on the inside of the ridge to prevent rainwater intrusion! For stepped roofs like Super Galtect, the ridge is a critical point, so we recommend installing the faceplate!

7. Installation of New Solar Panel Base Rack Hardware

The existing base was fixed by making holes in the roof, but the new hardware features a catch mechanism that grips the Galtect body to secure the solar panels. This reduces the risk of leaks and the burden on the roof. The base hardware is made of aluminum, so it won’t rust.
There are applicable hardware types for each manufacturer and model of solar panel. Older solar panels may not have compatible hardware available.

8. Solar Panel Installation

The removed solar panels will be reinstalled to complete the process! Finally, we will check to ensure they are generating power properly. If the solar panels are dirty, we will clean them before installation. We have also confirmed that the power generation amount remains unchanged before and after removal!

9. Cleaning

We will clean up any debris that has fallen onto the balcony and rain gutters. We will thoroughly remove items like nails and metal scraps that could cause injuries. Additionally, we will wipe away any footprints left on the roof to keep it clean.

Super Galtect comes with a 15-year warranty on the coating and a 25-year warranty against perforation.
