BEFORE

AFTER

Hello!
This is Yamanaka from Kakeru Koumuten Co., Ltd., a specialist in roofing, exterior painting, and exterior renovations located in Aoba-ku, Yokohama!
This is a case study of an exterior renovation project in Aoba-ku, Yokohama.
There are several types of exterior renovations, and the work we are doing this time is a roof replacement project (Stanby 455)!

On this page, I will explain the actual achievements we have accomplished at Kakeru Koumuten!

Thank you very much for choosing Kakeru Koumuten Co., Ltd. from among many contractors.

Roof Replacement Construction Photos

1. Existing Roof Material Demolition

We will dismantle and remove the existing roof materials. We walk on the rafters to avoid stepping through! The existing substrate was made of something like particle board compressed with wood chips. It is rare for this to be used as a substrate. While particle board is inexpensive, it seems to have low durability.

2. New Sheathing Installation

After dismantling the existing roofing materials, we will process and install new sheathing (structural plywood) to fit the dimensions!

3. Installing Roofing (Waterproof Sheet)

The roofing used is Tajima Roofing/Tadi Self!
It is made of a delayed adhesive modified asphalt roofing material, which is said to have double the durability of regular asphalt roofing.
With the roofing serving as the primary waterproofing, if it is properly installed, there will be no leaks!
We will ensure it is securely attached to prevent it from blowing away.

4. Fabricating Accessories (Curlicues and Eaves)

Before the main roofing work, we will process and install accessories such as curlicues!
The accessories used will be made of galvalume steel.

Before processing the fittings, the fascia had deteriorated, so we replaced it. We will introduce the construction procedure later!

4. Main Construction (Inagaki Shouji / Stanby 455)

After processing the fittings

, we will install the Stanby main unit! At the wall edge, we will raise the Stanby main unit to enhance waterproofing.
There are two types of materials for the rain guard metal: cedar and resin, and this time we used resin!
The resin type is expected to have three times the durability compared to the cedar type!

5. Rain Guard Processing

At the wall edge, we will process and install a component called rain guard metal. Between the rain guard and the main unit, we will install a chemical face and a cushion face to enhance waterproofing.
The nails and screws used for fixing are made of stainless steel, which is resistant to rust!

6. Cleaning

Cleaning

We will clean up the debris that has fallen onto the balcony and rain gutters. We will thoroughly remove items like nails and metal scraps that could cause injuries. Additionally, we will wipe away any footprints left on the roof to keep it clean.

Fascia Board Replacement and Sheet Metal Work Procedure

1. Existing Fascia Demolition

Initially, we planned to only replace the rain gutters, but since the fascia board was significantly corroded, we decided to replace the fascia board as well. We will remove the rain gutters first, followed by the removal of the fascia board.

2. Installation of New Fascia

We will secure new wood to the deteriorated foundation, process the fascia board to fit the dimensions, and install it!

3. Application of Preservative

We will apply a preservative to the fascia board.

5. Eaves and Fascia Sheet Metal Processing

We have completed the processing and installation of Galvalume copper plates to match the shape of the eaves and fascia board! The metal used is JFE steel plate / Kyoku MAX! It comes with a 15-year paint film warranty and a 25-year hole warranty from the manufacturer! While painting the eaves and fascia can easily peel, metal processing not only looks great but also lasts longer! [/chat]

Roof Materials Used

The roof material used is the Stanby 455 from Inagaki Shouji.
The Stanby 455 comes with a 15-year paint film warranty and a 25-year hole warranty from the manufacturer.
For re-roofing and overlaying, we also provide a 10-year construction warranty!
If there are any leaks within 10 years, we will make repairs free of charge.
It is made of Galvalume steel, which is resistant to rust.
We pursue the basic functions of a roof, such as water drainage and strength, and by applying ripples and ribs to the surface of the roofing material, we enhance the strength of the roof surface and prevent the phenomenon of board noise.

For roofs with a slope of 2.5 shaku or less, please be sure to choose a vertical roofing material like Stanby! Horizontal roofing materials like Colonial or Galttect are not allowed for installation!

Additionally, since it is a molded integrated standing seam that does not require hooks or fasteners, it is constructed with a single long metal sheet (long metal) from the peak of the roof to the eaves, eliminating horizontal seams that could obstruct the flow of rainwater and provide opportunities for water to enter beneath the roofing material, thus minimizing the risk of leaks. It is recommended for houses with a gentle roof slope.
Moreover, it is the lightest among metal roofs, and by reducing the weight of the roof, it is possible to make your home more earthquake-resistant through re-roofing.
You can also choose from colors such as Jet Black, Dark Brown, Sepia, Moss Green, Silver Black, Natural Gray, Midnight Blue, Bamboo Green, and Gray Silver.
