We received the following inquiry from a customer living in Sumida-ku, Tokyo!
“I am concerned about the deterioration of the exterior wall and joints, so I would like to have it checked and get an estimate.”

As a proposal from our company, we suggested using Premium Silicon for the ALC wall section and Seven S Top for the tile section as the exterior wall paint.

Joint Replacement Construction Procedure

1. Removal of Existing Sealant

We will remove the existing sealing material using a cutter or similar tools. This is referred to as sealing, caulking, or jointing. It is prone to causing leaks and can lead to cracking or lifting of the siding, making it a critical area. Cracks and peeling are signs of deterioration! If the bond breaker that prevents three-sided adhesion is peeling, we will apply a new bond breaker.

2. Masking Tape Application

We will check the position for applying the tape and carefully stick it on to avoid embedding it into the surface.

3. Primer Application

We will apply the primer with a brush, ensuring there are no missed spots.

4. Filling with Sealing Material

Next, we will apply the sealing material. Place the nozzle of the caulking gun against the bottom of the joint and fill it adequately.

The caulking material used for this work is Sunrise / SR Seal S70.

5. Finishing with a Trowel

Use a trowel that matches the joint width to press firmly and finish smoothly.

6. Removal of Masking Tape

Remove the masking tape promptly after finishing.

Exterior Wall Painting Construction Procedure

1. High-Pressure Washing

First, we thoroughly remove dirt and moss from the exterior walls using high-pressure washing! If dirt remains, it can affect the adhesion and durability of the paint, so we wash carefully. We also wash the exterior structures, concrete floors, and inside the rain gutters as well.

3. Protection of Various Areas

After high-pressure washing, we protect areas that will not be painted, such as windows, sashes, and floors, using masking tape, blue sheets, and polymer masks. This is a very important task in the painting process!

Neglecting protection can create gaps, allowing paint to seep in or resulting in uneven lines.

3. Surface Preparation

Next, while checking the condition of the exterior walls, we will perform substrate adjustments such as crack repairs.

4. Primer Coat

This is the first step of applying paint after high-pressure washing and substrate treatment, and it is the paint that ensures that the middle and top coats adhere well to the surface. By applying the primer coat thoroughly, there will be a significant difference in durability and finish!
The primer material for the ALC side is SK Kaken’s Premium Filler.
The primer for the tile side is Seven Chemical/Seven S Sealer.

5. Middle Coat

Next is the middle coat. This is an important process to bring out the performance of the paint, achieve a beautiful finish, and eliminate uneven application!

6. Top Coat

Next is the top coat. This will be the finishing touch for the exterior wall painting. We will be mindful to ensure there are no uneven spots or missed areas, resulting in a beautiful finish!

For the paint, we used SK Kaken’s Escape Premium Silicon on the ALC side. The manufacturer’s expected durability is said to be about 14 to 16 years.
On the tile side, we used Seven Chemical’s Seven S Top.
