Procedure for Purlin Replacement Work

1.Removal of existing ridge metal

First, we will remove the existing ridge cap. Since we will be reusing the ridge cap for this project, we will take special care to remove each piece carefully.

2.Removal of the Purlin

We will proceed with the removal of the purlin. The existing purlin was made of wood, and there were some areas that had rotted. We will carefully remove it to avoid damaging the roof.

3.Substrate Adjustment

We will seal the nail holes left by the purlin. These holes could potentially lead to leaks, so this step is essential.

4.Installation of New Purlin

Next, we will install the purlin. The purlin used this time is made of resin, a material that is resistant to corrosion.

5.Installation of Ridge Cap

We will now install the ridge cap that we removed earlier. We will use packing screws for the fasteners, which will not come loose like nails.

6.Sealing Treatment

Finally, we will perform sealing treatment around the ridge cap. Before sealing, we apply a primer to enhance adhesion. If the primer is not applied, there is a high possibility of poor adhesion of the sealant, so this is a necessary step.

The work for replacing the purlin is now complete.

Roof Painting Work Procedure

1. High-Pressure Washing and Surface Preparation

First, we perform high-pressure washing to thoroughly remove moss and dirt from the roof.

After washing, we will repair any cracks in the roof and perform surface preparation.

2. Protection of Surrounding Areas

Next, we will protect areas that will not be painted, such as rain gutters, using masking tape and poly sheeting. This is also an important task.

3. Application of Rust Inhibitor on Metal

Next, we will apply a rust inhibitor to the metal parts.

4. Primer Application

Next, we will apply the primer. The primer used is Best Sealer by Nippon Paint. Applying it thoroughly will make a difference in the durability and finish of the paint film.

5. Installation of Taspacer

Next, we will insert Same’s Taspacer into the gaps between the roofing materials to ensure a pathway for rainwater and moisture to escape.

6. Intermediate Coating

Next is the middle coating.

The paint used is Japan Paint’s Fine Perfect Best in Bologna Green. The expected durability is about 10 to 12 years. This is one of the paints we use that offers good cost performance.

7. Top Coating

Finally, we will perform the top coating work. Since this is the final finish, we will carry it out with particular care.

8. Cleaning

Once the top coating is completed, we will clean up any fallen debris and finish the job!

Joint Replacement Work Procedure

1. Removal of Existing Sealing Material

We will remove the existing sealing material using a cutter or similar tool. This is referred to as sealing, caulking, or jointing. It is a critical area that can easily lead to leaks and cause cracking or lifting of the siding. Cracks and peeling are signs of deterioration! If the bond breaker that prevents three-sided adhesion is peeling, we will apply a new bond breaker.

2. Applying Masking Tape

Confirm the position to apply the tape and carefully attach it to avoid embedding into the surface.

3. Application of Primer

Apply the primer with a brush or similar tool, ensuring there are no missed spots.

4. Filling with Sealant

Next, apply the sealant. Position the nozzle of the caulking gun at the bottom of the joint and fill it adequately.

The sealant used this time is Sunstar Giken / Penguin Seal (2-component polyurethane seal). Polyurethane sealants have high adhesion, are cost-effective, and offer excellent performance. However, they have drawbacks such as low weather resistance, vulnerability to UV rays, and a tendency to attract dust, so protection with paint is necessary when used outdoors.

The durability is approximately 10 to 15 years, making it a cost-focused material!

5. Finishing with a Trowel

Using a spatula that matches the joint width of

, we press firmly and finish smoothly.

6. Removal of Masking Tape

Immediately remove the masking tape after finishing

.

Exterior Painting Work Procedure

1. High-Pressure Washing

At the beginning of the exterior painting, we perform high-pressure washing. We remove dirt and moss before painting!

2. Preparation of Areas

We prepare areas that will not be painted, such as windows, sashes, and floors, using masking tape, blue sheets, and polymer masks. This is a very important task in the painting work!

Neglecting preparation can create gaps in the masking, allowing paint to seep in or resulting in uneven lines.

3. Primer Application

After completing high-pressure washing and surface preparation, this is the first step in applying the paint. It is a paint designed to firmly adhere the intermediate and top coats applied from above to the surface. By thoroughly applying the primer, there will be a significant difference in durability and finish!

The paint used is SK Kaken’s water-based hybrid sealer. [/chat]

4. Intermediate Coat

Next is the intermediate coat. This is a crucial process to bring out the performance of the paint, achieve a beautiful finish, and eliminate unevenness!

The paint used is SK Kaken’s premium silicone. The manufacturer’s expected durability is said to be about 14 to 16 years. [/chat]

5. Top Coat

Next is the top coat. This will be the finishing touch for the exterior wall painting. We will be mindful to ensure that there are no uneven areas or missed spots, resulting in a beautiful finish!

For the paint, we used SK Kaken’s Escape Premium Silicon, just like the middle coat.

6. Painting of Auxiliary Parts (Eaves, Rain Gutter, Fascia, Ridge, Water Cutting, Slim Duct, Shutter Box, Balcony Top Coat)

Eaves

Rain Gutter

Water Cutting

Slim Duct

The slim duct is disassembled for painting to avoid sticking! By detaching and painting, we can thoroughly paint the exterior wall beneath the slim duct as well!

Shutter Box

After completing the surface preparation such as scraping for the

attached parts, for iron parts, we apply a rust preventive primer, followed by a mid-coat and top-coat using Lock Paint’s Yumelock. We ensure that every detail is thoroughly painted!

For the eaves, we used Nippon Paint / Water-based Ken Ace (N-90).

Balcony Top Coat

We will perform surface roughening to improve the adhesion of the top coat. By intentionally creating fine scratches on the surface of the substrate at this time, we can enhance the paint’s grip (adhesion). For example, when the application surface is smooth and flat like glass, compared to when there is slight texture, the latter allows the new paint to adhere more easily.

The top coat is generally applied in two layers! After finishing the application, we will check for any missed spots or unevenness.
