Ridge Cap Replacement Procedure
1. Existing Ridge Dismantling
We will remove the old ridge cap and the internal wooden batten. Care is taken not to break the roofing materials during this process.
We recommend replacing the internal wooden batten every 10 to 15 years.
Once the ridge cap is removed, you will find the batten inside.
2. Installing the Colonial
We will process and install one slate at the ridge.
3. Installing New Batten
We will install new purlins. This time, we used cedar purlins, but there are also purlins made of durable resin (Tough Mock, Eco Lumber) available.
4. Sealing the Ridge Cap Joints
We apply sealing on the inside of the overlaps to enhance strength and waterproofing.
5. Installation of New Ridge Caps
We will process and install the ends and joints.
6. Clean Up and Completion!
That concludes our work!
