Background to the Construction
We received an inquiry from a customer living in Chuo-ku, Sagamihara City, stating, “I want to replace the tiled roof of my 40-year-old house for seismic measures. I am also considering the installation of solar panels at the same time!”

Roof Replacement Construction Procedure

1. Existing Roof Material Dismantling

We will dismantle the existing roof materials! After dismantling the ridge tiles, we will also dismantle the plaster. After the tile dismantling, we will dismantle the wood that holds the remaining tiles. We will remove the roofing sheet and clean the entire roof.

2. New Sheathing Installation

After dismantling the existing roofing material, we will process and install new sheathing (structural plywood) to fit the dimensions!

3. Installing Roofing (Waterproof Sheet)

Next, we will install the roofing sheet (waterproof sheet)! This time, we used Tajima Roofing / New Liner Roofing.

This underlayment boasts the highest quality, unmatched in both waterproofing and durability. By sandwiching a modified asphalt layer between non-woven fabric and base paper, it fully demonstrates the inherent performance of modified asphalt. The expected durability is about 30 years!

As a secondary waterproofing measure, if the roofing is properly installed, there will be no leaks! We will secure it firmly to prevent it from blowing away.

Since there are various durability years and features for roofing sheets, it is important to choose a roofing sheet that matches the durability of the new roofing material and the roof slope!

4. Fabrication of Accessories (Curlicue & Eaves)

Before the main roofing work, we will fabricate and install accessories such as curlicues and eaves!
The materials used for the accessories are galvalume steel sheets.
At the same time, we will also install our original galvalume steel sheet ridge underlayment!

5. Main Construction (Inagaki Shouji / Stanby 455)

After the accessory fabrication, we will install the Stanby 455 roofing material up to the ridge! The method of securing the roofing material will be with stainless steel screws that have undergone disco treatment.

Once the roofing is completed up to the ridge, we will install the ridge underlayment to secure the ridge cap. We offer three types of ridge boards: cedar, resin, and galvalume steel, and this time we used galvalume steel!

Galvalume steel can be expected to have a durability of three times that of cedar! Unlike resin or cedar, it does not crack, providing peace of mind!

Our original integrated waste board Galvalume steel ridge base is highly durable, has strong fixation, and excellent wind resistance! Even if rainwater enters from the ridge, it has a mechanism to discharge rainwater to the outside, demonstrating high waterproofing performance!

6. Ridge Cap and Sealing at Various Locations

We will process and install the ventilation tower and ridge cap. We will firmly apply sealing on the inside of the joints.

At the wall edge, we will process and install a component called a rain stop flashing. The nails and screws used for fixation are made of stainless steel, which is resistant to rust!

Unlike nails, screws with packing are less likely to come loose and firmly secure the ridge cap to the wood!

Although it is not visible after construction, installing a face plate on the inside of the ridge cap enhances waterproofing!
It firmly protects the ridge, which is a critical point of the roof.

7. Cleaning

Finally, we will clean up any debris that has fallen onto the balcony or rain gutter. We will thoroughly remove items like nails and metal scraps that could lead to injuries.

Additionally, we will wipe away any footprints left on the roof to keep it clean.

About Roofing Materials

The roofing material used is Inagaki Shouji / Stanby 455. Stanby 455 comes with a 15-year paint film warranty and a 25-year hole warranty. Our company also provides a 10-year construction warranty for re-roofing and overlaying!

Galvalume steel is also resistant to rust. It pursues the basic functions of a roof, such as rain drainage and strength, and enhances the strength of the roof surface by applying ripples and ribs, which also prevents the board sound phenomenon.

For roofs with a slope of 2.5 shaku or less, please be sure to choose a vertical roofing method like Standby! Horizontal roofing methods such as Colonial or Galttect are not allowed!

Additionally, since it is a molded integrated standing seam that does not require any hanging pieces or locking, it is constructed from a single long sheet of metal (long metal) from the peak of the roof to the eaves. Because there are no horizontal seams in between, it minimizes the risk of leaks by eliminating opportunities for rainwater to flow in and penetrate under the roofing material. This is recommended for homes with a gentle roof slope (angle).

Moreover, among lightweight metal roofs, it is the lightest, and by reducing the weight of the roof, it is possible to make your home more earthquake-resistant through roof replacement.

Solar Panel Installation Work Procedure

1. Mounting the Frame

We will install the “foundation (rails and brackets)” to secure the solar panels on the roof. The brackets used are aluminum catch-type, allowing for secure installation without drilling holes in the roof, so there’s no worry about leaks!

2. Installation of Solar Panels (Modules)

We will install the solar panels according to the layout on the mounting frame and secure them tightly. The panels used are from DMM Solar, and we have installed anti-glare panels on the north side.
Normally, installation on the north side is not possible to prevent reflection issues, but with the use of anti-glare panels, it becomes feasible!

3. Wiring Work (Roof Wiring)

We will connect the panels with cables and wire them so that the generated electricity can flow. We will organize the wiring to prevent it from coming loose or getting scratched.

4. Installation of Power Conditioner

We will install the machine (power conditioner) that converts solar electricity into usable household electricity.

5. Circuit Breaker Panel Work (Electrical Work)

We will add dedicated breakers to the circuit breaker panel and perform the work to connect the solar electricity to the household electricity.

6. Measurement Equipment & Communication Setup + Test Run & Confirmation

We will set up monitors and apps to check the power generation amount, allowing you to see the generation status.
We will check if the generation starts normally, if the electricity flows correctly, and if there are no errors.

7. Finishing, Cleaning, and Final Inspection

We will conduct a final check to ensure there are no loose wires or brackets, clean up, and complete the work.
We will also handle the electricity application, subsidy application, and equipment application (FIT application) for you!
