This is a case study of an exterior renovation project in Aoba-ku, Yokohama.

The work this time includes replacing the parking lot wave panels, re-covering the parking lot with decorative plywood, rubber locking for ridge tiles, and partial replacement of tiles!

Wave Panel Replacement Work Procedure

1. Remove Existing Wave Panels

First, we will remove the old wave panels. We will also remove any corroded wooden framework.

2. Replace Battens and Check Substrates

In the case of balconies, aluminum frames are common, but it is the same for wooden, iron, or aluminum frames.
We will thoroughly check the substrate for the wave panels and ensure that any areas needing repair are properly addressed.

The decayed rafters were replaced, and we painted them to match the existing rafters!

This time, there were many areas where the substrate had deteriorated, so we carried out thorough repairs.

3. Installation of Wave Panels

We will install polycarbonate wave panels.

4. Replacement of Decorative Plywood

We will also replace the decorative plywood in the parking lot concurrently with the wave panel replacement. Some areas were severely deteriorated, and the plywood was decayed.

We will dismantle the existing plywood!

5. Fixing and Caulking

Next, we will fix the new plywood with screws and attach it. We will use caulking to thoroughly prevent rainwater intrusion in the gaps of the plywood!

6. Completion

The wave panels and plywood have been installed, and the work is complete.

Partial Tile Replacement & Ridge Tile Rubber Lock

Next, we will carry out partial tile replacement work.

Some of the tiles were cracked, so we replaced them! There were about five spots in total.

Ridge Tile Rubber Lock

Finally, we will install the ridge tiles using the rubber lock method. Rubber lock is a method that involves filling the gaps between tiles with caulking material to prevent shifting and other issues!

Cleaning

And finally, we will clean up any trash that has fallen around the parking lot and the house!
We strive to make the area cleaner after the work than it was before!

About the Materials Used

This time, we used Policanami from Sumitomo Bakelite Co., Ltd.!

Policanami is a polycarbonate resin corrugated sheet that offers impact resistance, transparency, cold and heat resistance, and weather resistance.

Additionally, there are many color variations available, with over 15 options to choose from!
