Roof Overlay Construction Procedure

1. Dismantling Existing Metal Sheets

First, we will dismantle the unnecessary parts (ridge metal) for the overlay method!

The lifespan of wooden purlins is about 10 to 15 years. Once the lifespan is exceeded, corrosion and discoloration occur, leading to the detachment and scattering of the ridge metal.

2. Installing Roofing (Waterproof Sheet)

Next, we will apply the waterproof sheet! The roofing used is Tajima Roofing / New Liner Roofing!
It is a highly durable non-woven fabric roofing!
As a secondary waterproofing measure, if the roofing is properly installed, it will generally not leak!
We will ensure it is firmly applied so that it does not get blown away by the wind.
Since there are various lifespans and characteristics of roofing sheets, it is important to choose roofing sheets that match the lifespan of the new roof and the roof slope!

3. Fabricating Accessories (Kera and Karakusa)

Before the main roof construction, we will fabricate and install accessories such as kera and karakusa. We use SGL steel plates for the genuine Galtect accessories!

The metal at the ridge is our original integrated waste board type ridge base. It has a lifespan of about 30 years and is a highly wind-resistant ridge base.

4. Main Construction (Aijii Industry / Super Galtect)

After processing the

accessories, we will install the Galttect main body up to the ridge! The fasteners used for the Galttect main body are genuine stainless steel renovation screws from Aijii Industrial Co., Ltd.!

Once the installation reaches the ridge, we will set up the necessary materials to secure the ridge board known as the “kanban.” We offer three types of kanban: cedar, resin, and Galvalume steel, and this time we used Galvalume steel!

Galvalume steel is expected to have three times the durability of cedar! Unlike resin or cedar, it does not crack, providing peace of mind!

Our original integrated waste board made of Galvalume steel for the ridge base is highly durable, has strong fixation, and excellent wind resistance!

Even if rainwater enters from the ridge, it has a mechanism to discharge rainwater to the outside, demonstrating high waterproof performance!

It is perfect for the Super Galttect ridge base!

5. Processing of Ridge Flashing and Sealing at Various Locations

We will process and install the ridge flashing

. To enhance waterproofing, we will attach a face plate on the inside of the ridge! We will firmly apply sealing on the inside of the joints.

We will use rust-resistant stainless steel screws with waterproof washers for fixation!

Screws with washers are less likely to come loose compared to nails,
firmly securing the ridge flashing to the kanban!

 

Although it’s not visible after construction,
installing a face plate inside the ridge cap
enhances waterproofing!
It firmly protects the ridge, which is a critical point of the roof.

6. Cleaning

After the

roofing work, we will clean up any debris that has fallen onto the balcony or rain gutters. We thoroughly remove nails and metal scraps to prevent injuries.

We will also wipe away any footprints left on the roof to keep it clean.

About Roofing Materials

The roofing material used is Ai-Gi Kogyo / Super Galtect. Super Galtect comes with a 15-year coating warranty and a 25-year hole warranty from the manufacturer, along with a 10-year construction warranty from our company! Additionally, it is made of SGL steel, which is resistant to rust.

Insulation material is tightly applied from edge to edge of the roofing material, creating a metal sheet that integrates the steel plate and insulation. During installation, insulation is applied even to the parts where the roofing materials overlap, and the surface is coated with a high heat-reflective paint, allowing for a cool summer and a warm winter.

Moreover, it also has soundproofing properties, reducing the sound of rain. Being lighter than other roofing materials, it minimizes the sway during earthquakes, providing earthquake resistance as well.

It excels in finish, durability, insulation, soundproofing, and wind resistance, and Super Galtect from Ai-Gi Kogyo is the most frequently used in our construction achievements and is gaining significant attention!
