Exterior Painting | Construction Procedure

1. High-Pressure Washing

First, we thoroughly remove dirt and moss from the exterior walls using high-pressure washing! If any dirt remains, it can affect the adhesion and durability of the paint, so we wash carefully. We also wash the ground and inside the rain gutters as well.

2. Substrate Adjustment

After the high-pressure washing is complete, we will perform substrate adjustments such as crack repairs while checking the condition of the exterior walls!

3. Protection of Various Areas

Next, we will protect areas that will not be painted, such as windows, sashes, and floors, using masking tape and other materials. This is a very important task in the painting process! If protection is neglected, gaps may form, allowing paint to seep in or resulting in uneven lines.

4. Primer Application

This is the first application of paint after completing high-pressure washing and substrate treatment. It is a primer that ensures that the intermediate and top coats adhere properly to the surface. A well-applied primer makes a significant difference in durability and finish! The primer used is Astec’s Epithic Filler.

5. Intermediate Coating

Next is the intermediate coating. This is an important process to enhance the performance of the paint, achieve a beautiful finish, and eliminate unevenness!

6. Top Coating

Next is the top coating. This is the final step in the exterior wall painting process. We will ensure that there are no uneven areas or missed spots, focusing on achieving a beautiful finish. The paint used is Astec’s Silicon REVO1000-IR!

Silicon REVO1000-IR contains about three times more silicon components (siloxane bonds) compared to typical acrylic silicon paints. The high concentration of silicon components makes the painted surface less susceptible to damage from ultraviolet rays, demonstrating superior weather resistance.

　　

7. Painting of Auxiliary Parts (Entrance Ceiling, Eaves, Rain Gutter, Shutter Box, Water Drain)

After completing the surface preparation such as scraping, the auxiliary parts will be finished with a primer and topcoat!

The entrance ceiling (soffit) is less exposed to sunlight and therefore less prone to deterioration; however, due to poor sunlight exposure, it tends to develop moss and mold more easily. For this reason, we use Nippon Paint’s Ken Ace, which has high mold resistance and moisture permeability.

For the auxiliary parts, after finishing the surface preparation such as scraping, if it is a metal part, we apply a rust preventive primer, followed by a mid-coat and top-coat using Lock Paint’s Yumelock. We ensure that every detail is thoroughly painted!
