This is a case study of an exterior renovation project in Kohoku-ku, Yokohama.
The work this time involves the roof overlay (cover method) using Dan Netsu Top!
We implemented measures against leaks through roofing work!

Roof Overlay Construction Procedure

1. Existing Ridge and Snow Stops Demolition

We will dismantle unnecessary parts (ridge flashing) for the overlay method! The durability of wooden purlins is about 10 to 15 years. Once the durability period is exceeded, corrosion and discoloration occur, leading to the detachment and scattering of the ridge flashing.

2. Roofing Installation (Waterproof Sheet)

The roofing used is Jouyu Pulp Industry/Sunlight G!
It is made of modified asphalt roofing material, which is said to have double the durability of regular asphalt roofing.
As a primary waterproofing measure, if the roofing is solid, there will be no leaks!

We will firmly install it to prevent it from blowing away!

3. Component Processing (Curly, Eaves, Valley)

Before the main roofing work, we will process and install components such as eaves, decorative moldings, and valley metal!
The materials used are SGL copper plates!

4. Main Construction (Sekino Kousan/Dannetsu Top)

After processing the components, we will install the Dannetsu Top roofing material up to the ridge!
Once the roofing is completed up to the ridge, we will install the necessary materials to secure the ridge board, known as the “kanban.” There are types of kanban made from cedar and resin, and this time we used the resin type!
The resin type is expected to have twice the durability compared to the cedar type!

5. Ridge Metal Processing & Sealing at Various Locations

Next, we will process and install the ridge metal. We will thoroughly apply sealing on the inside of the joints. For the wall edges, we will process and install components known as rain guard metal.
We will use stainless steel nails and screws that are resistant to rust!

6. Cleaning

We will clean up any debris that has fallen onto the balcony and rain gutters. We will thoroughly remove items like nails and metal scraps that could cause injuries. Additionally, we will wipe away any footprints left on the roof to keep it clean.

About Roofing Materials

The roofing material used is Sekino Kousan’s Dannetsu Top.

The Danetsu Top is made of Galvalume steel, ensuring excellent durability, and comes with a manufacturer’s coating warranty! 15-year coating and 25-year hole warranty are included!

While it looks similar to Hirambi, the Danetsu Top comes with polyethylene foam insulation as a standard feature, not as an option!
Additionally, our company provides a 10-year construction warranty!

It is lightweight and strong against earthquakes, making it a roof material that is both incredibly lightweight and securely fastened, providing excellent earthquake resistance. It is also easy to install, which improves work efficiency.

Moreover, it features heat-insulating GL steel plates. With high corrosion resistance GL steel plates and insulation material, it excels in thermal insulation, soundproofing, and strength.
