Ridge Cap Replacement Procedure

1. Existing Ridge Demolition

We will dismantle the existing roofing materials (ridge cap, snow guards) that are unnecessary for the roof overlay method! The lifespan of wooden purlins is about 10 to 15 years. Exceeding the lifespan can lead to corrosion and discoloration, resulting in the ridge cap detaching or blowing away.

2. New Installation of Purlins

We will install new purlins. This time, we used cedar purlins, but there are also resin purlins that are resistant to corrosion (such as Tough Mock and Eco Lumber).

3. Sealing of Ridge Cap Joints

We will apply sealing on the inside of the overlaps to enhance strength and waterproofing.

4. New Ridge Cap and Ventilation Ridge Installation

We will process and install the ends and joints.

5. Cleaning and Completion!

We will clean up any debris that has fallen onto the balcony or rain gutters. We will thoroughly remove nails and metal scraps to prevent injuries.
