This is a case study of an exterior renovation project in Hino City, Tokyo.
For this roofing renovation, we performed a roof overlay (cover method) using Super Galtect!
Roof overlay involves dismantling and removing the existing roofing materials and replacing them with new roofing to prevent leaks.

Additionally, switching from tiles to a roof overlay significantly reduces the weight of the roof, enhancing its seismic resistance.
The weight of Super Galtect is one-tenth that of tiles!

Roof: Super Galtect, durability of 35 to 40 years (Construction warranty: 10 years, Manufacturer warranty: Coating 15 years, Rust 20 years, Puncture 25 years)
Roofing sheet: New Liner Roofing, durability of about 30 years
Ridge base (nail board): durability of about 30 years

Roof Replacement Construction Procedure

1. Demolition of Existing Roofing Materials

We will dismantle the existing roofing materials! After removing the ridge tiles, we will dismantle the mortar and flat tiles. After dismantling the tiles, we will also remove the wood that is holding the remaining tiles. We will peel off the roofing sheet and clean the entire roof.

2. Installation of New Sheathing Boards

After dismantling the existing roofing material, we will process and install new sheathing boards to fit the dimensions!

3. Installing Roofing (Waterproof Sheet)

Next, we will install the roofing sheet (waterproof sheet)! The roofing used is Tajima Roofing/New Liner Roofing!
This underlayment boasts the highest quality, unmatched in both waterproofing and durability. By sandwiching a modified asphalt layer between non-woven fabric and base paper, it fully demonstrates the inherent performance of modified asphalt.
The expected durability is about 30 years!

4. Fabrication of Accessories (Kera and Karakusa)

Before the main roofing work, we will fabricate and install accessories such as kera and karakusa!
The materials used for the accessories are SGL steel plates.

5. Main Construction (Aiji Industry/Super Galtect)

After processing the fittings, we will install the Galttect main body up to the ridge! After processing the fittings, we will install the Galttect main body up to the ridge!
Once the installation reaches the ridge, we will set up the necessary materials to secure the ridge board known as the “kanban.” We offer three types of kanban: cedar, resin, and Galvalume steel, and this time we used Galvalume steel!
Galvalume steel is expected to have three times the durability compared to cedar! Unlike resin or cedar, it does not crack, providing peace of mind!

Our original integrated waste board made of Galvalume steel for the ridge base is highly durable, has strong fixation, and excellent wind resistance! Even if rainwater enters from the ridge, it has a mechanism to discharge rainwater to the outside, demonstrating high waterproofing! It is perfect for the Super Galttect ridge base!

6. Processing and Sealing of Ridge Flashing

We will process and install the ridge flashing. To enhance waterproofing, we will install a face plate on the inside of the ridge! We will firmly apply sealing on the inside of the joints.
The screws used for fixation are made of rust-resistant stainless steel with waterproof packing!

Unlike nails, screws with packing are less likely to come loose and securely fix the ridge flashing to the kanban!

Although it is not visible after installation, the waterproofing is enhanced by installing the face plate on the inside of the ridge flashing!
We will firmly protect the ridge, which is a critical point of the roof.

7. Installation of Rain Gutter Net

When there are many plants in and around your property, leaves, branches, and sometimes even trash can fall into the rain gutter, causing drainage flow issues. A rain gutter net is an effective measure to prevent clogging before it happens!
We installed it at the request of our customer!
The rain gutter net used is a leaf protection net from Netron!

8. Cleaning

We will clean up any trash that has fallen onto the balcony and rain gutter. We will thoroughly remove items like nails and metal scraps that could cause injuries. Additionally, we will wipe away any footprints left on the roof to ensure it looks clean.

About Roofing Materials

The roofing material used is the Super Galtect from Aijii Industrial.
The Super Galtect comes with a manufacturer warranty of 15 years for the coating and 25 years for perforation.
We also provide a 10-year construction warranty!
Made of SGL steel plate, it is resistant to rust.
Insulation material is tightly applied from edge to edge of the roofing material, creating a metal plate that integrates the steel plate and insulation.
During installation, insulation is applied even to the parts where the roofing materials overlap, and the surface is coated with a highly heat-resistant paint, allowing for a cool summer and a warm winter.
It also has soundproofing properties, reducing the sound of rain.
Moreover, it is lighter compared to other roofing materials, which reduces the sway during earthquakes, providing earthquake resistance.
It excels in finish, durability, insulation, soundproofing, and wind resistance, and among our construction achievements, the Super Galtect from Aijii Industrial is the most popular and highly regarded!
