This is a case study of exterior construction in Hino City, Tokyo!
We received a request from N Company, a renovation company!

We carried out a renovation from a permanent fence to a block fence.
Since the permanent fence is constructed by combining flat plates from above, if a new fence is to be installed, it is necessary to remove the existing structure from the foundation and create a new base for the fence using concrete blocks or similar materials.

Exterior Construction Procedure
1. Demolition of Existing Block Fence
We will dismantle the existing permanent fence, which had issues with seismic strength.
2. Foundation Work
We used concrete blocks for the foundation.
Reinforcement bars will be installed.
3. New Block Stacking
We will stack the blocks on top of the rebar.
To connect the blocks, we fill the inside of the blocks with mortar and use a level to ensure they are stacked straight.
Mortar is a mixture of cement, water, and sand.
This mortar is used for bonding blocks and bricks.
By filling the gaps between the blocks and the recesses where horizontal rebar, known as yokisui, is inserted with mortar, we enhance the strength of the block wall.
4. Erecting Fence Posts
Fill the holes in the blocks with mortar slightly lower than the top edge, insert the posts, and use a level to ensure they are vertical.
Be careful not to move them too much, as this will loosen the mortar, so make adjustments with minimal movement.
Once all the posts are erected, we will repair the top edges around the posts and finish the top edges of the blocks with mortar.
5. Installing the Fence & Cleaning
We will install the fence.
This time, we will be installing a mesh fence.
That’s all!
This time, we stacked the blocks in two layers to match the height of the existing wall, using H1000 for the fence.
The finished product was very satisfying for the customer!
