● Background to the Construction
This inquiry comes from a customer living in Odawara City, Kanagawa Prefecture.
“I have started to worry about the deterioration of the joints and exterior walls, so I would like to request an estimate for a painting renovation. If there are ways to improve the appearance of the stairs and fence, I would appreciate your suggestions. I understand that your company also offers color simulation, so I would like to simulate both the exterior wall and the exterior structure when deciding on colors.”

● Proposal Details
Regarding the exterior wall paint, we provided several options for the estimate, and this time we entrusted the exterior wall painting to use “Premium Silicon,” which has a high durability and excellent cost performance!
As for the exterior structure paint, using the same paint as the exterior wall would lead to peeling and bubbling, so we proposed a dedicated paint instead!

Regarding color simulation, we conducted simulations based on actual photos to help determine the colors!
Our color simulation can be done on your smartphone or computer!

Joint Replacement Work Procedure

1. Removal of Existing Sealing Material

We will remove the existing sealing material using a cutter or similar tool. This is referred to as sealing, caulking, or joints. It is prone to causing leaks and can lead to cracking or lifting of the siding, making it a critical area. Cracks and peeling are signs of deterioration!

2. Application of Masking Tape

Check the position where the tape will be applied and carefully stick it on to avoid any overlap on the surface.

3. Application of Primer

Apply the primer with a brush or similar tool, ensuring there are no missed spots.

4. Filling of Sealing Material

Next, we will apply the sealing. Place the nozzle of the caulking gun at the bottom of the joint and fill it adequately.
The sealing material used this time is SR Seal H100.

5. Trowel Finish

Use a trowel that matches the joint width to press firmly and finish smoothly.

6. Removal of Masking Tape

 

Remove the masking tape promptly after finishing.

Exterior Wall Painting Construction Procedure

1. High-Pressure Washing

First, we thoroughly wash the exterior walls with high-pressure washing to remove dirt and moss! If dirt remains, it can affect the adhesion and durability of the paint, so we wash carefully. We also clean the exterior structures, flooring, and inside the rain gutters.

2. Surface Preparation

After high-pressure washing, we assess the condition of the exterior walls and perform surface preparation such as crack repairs.

3. Protection of Surrounding Areas

Next, we protect areas that will not be painted, such as windows, sashes, and floors, using masking tape, blue sheets, and polymer masks. This is a very important task in the painting process!

Neglecting protection can create gaps, allowing paint to seep in or resulting in uneven lines.

4. Primer Application

 

This is the first step of applying paint after high-pressure washing and surface preparation. It is the primer that ensures the middle and top coats adhere well to the surface. A solid application of the primer makes a significant difference in durability and finish!

◯ The primer for the exterior wall siding is SK Kaken’s water-based SD Surf Epoxy Premium. It also has surface adjustment properties, filling in fine cracks!

◯ For exterior painting, we use a special sealer designed for exterior applications. We used a highly breathable sealer to prevent bubbling! Surf and filler can cause bubbling, so they are not allowed for exterior painting!

5. Middle Coat

Next is the middle coat. This is an important process to bring out the performance of the paint, achieve a beautiful finish, and eliminate unevenness!

6. Top Coat

 

Next is the top coat. This is the finishing touch for the exterior wall painting. We focus on ensuring there are no uneven areas or missed spots, achieving a beautiful finish!

◯ The paint used for the exterior wall painting is SK Kaken’s SK Premium Silicon. The manufacturer’s expected durability is said to be about 14 to 16 years.

◯ The paint used for the exterior painting is International Paint/IP Youheki Coat! This paint helps maintain the aesthetic of block walls and similar structures over a long period! It is a paint that prevents the most common trouble of bubbling in exterior painting!

7. Floor Coating

The paint used for the floor coating is Mizutani Paint/Floor Pian! Floor Pian is a two-component urethane floor paint that excels in protecting concrete floors and weather resistance!

After completing the surface preparation such as scraping for the attached parts, if it is a metal part, we apply a rust preventive primer, followed by an intermediate coat and a top coat using Yumelock. We ensure to paint thoroughly even in the finer areas!
