We are Kakeru Koumuten Co., Ltd., a specialist in roofing, exterior wall painting, and exterior renovations located in Aoba-ku, Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture!
This is a case study of an exterior renovation project in Asao-ku, Kawasaki City.
There are several types of exterior renovations, and the work we are doing this time is a roof replacement using Diplomat Star!

Roof Replacement Construction Procedure

1. Temporary Disassembly of Existing Panels

We carefully remove the solar panels for reuse and store them at our material storage area! The existing base rack will be disassembled and disposed of.

2. Disassembly of Existing Roofing Materials

We will disassemble the existing roofing materials (tiles)! We will remove the tiles, soil, and tile battens!

3. Installation of New Sheathing

After dismantling the existing roofing material, we will process and install new sheathing boards to fit the dimensions!

4. Installing Roofing (Waterproof Sheet)

We will lay down the roofing sheet (waterproof sheet) on the substrate!The roofing used is Tajima Roofing/Tadis Cool!
This material is a delayed adhesion modified asphalt roofing, which is said to have double the durability of regular asphalt roofing. Tadis Self Cool also has heat insulation properties.
As a primary waterproofing measure, if the roofing is properly installed, there will be no leaks!
We will ensure it is firmly attached to prevent it from blowing away!

5. Fabricating Accessories (Karakusa, Keraba, Valley)

Before the main roofing work, we will fabricate and install accessories such as keraba, karakusa, and valley metal!
The materials used for the accessories aregalvalume steel sheets.

6. Main Construction (D’s Roofing/Diplomat Star)

After processing the fittings, we will install the Diplomat Star main body up to the ridge!
Once we have installed it up to the ridge, we will set up the necessary materials to secure the ridge cap known as the kanban. There are two types of kanban: cedar and resin, and this time we used the resin type!
The resin type is expected to have 2 to 3times the durability compared to the cedar type!

7. Processing of Ridge Cap and Sealing at Various Locations

We will process and install the ridge cap. We will firmly apply sealing on the inside of the joints.
The nails and screws used for fixing are made of stainless steel, which is resistant to rust!

8. Installation of Solar Panels

We will install brackets to attach the solar panels! The brackets used are made by Niigata! Unlike those for colonial roofs, they can be installed without making holes in the roof, ensuring no leaks!

We will install the panels that have been stored!
We will also conduct a thorough power check, and the construction is complete!
I was relieved that the power check was done properly (laughs)

9. Cleaning

We will clean up the debris that has fallen onto the balcony and rain gutters. We will thoroughly carry out the cleaning as nails and metal fragments can lead to injuries.

About Roofing Materials

The roofing material used is the Diplomat Star from Deez Roofing.
Deez Roofing comes with a 30-year warranty on the base material.
Our company also provides a 10-year construction warranty!
It uses zinc-aluminum steel, which has the same composition as galvanized steel, known for its rust resistance.

Deez Roofing reduces heat conduction to the steel layer due to the effect of the surface stone granules. This structure makes it more difficult for heat to transfer to the attic compared to other roofing materials, as it secures a sufficient air layer between the roofing material and the roof substrate.
Additionally, the unevenness of the surface stone granules helps to disperse raindrops, causing them to hit the surface smaller than they would on a regular smooth surface. As a result, the high-frequency noise caused by the micro-vibrations of the steel plate when raindrops hit, which is the cause of the “noisy sound” of steel roofs, can also be suppressed by the natural stone granule layer on the surface.This allows for a quieter experience during rain.

By adopting the “interlocking method” that integrates the roofing materials, it has excellent performance that can withstand winds of up to 60m/s, as well as superior fire resistance and waterproofing.This ensures durability and safety.
