The eaves and fascia board (the eaves board on the side with the rain gutter) play a crucial role in preventing wind from adversely affecting your home.
During strong winds such as typhoons, rain can blow in horizontally, so the eaves and fascia help to disperse the wind, making it harder for rain carried by the wind to reach the junction of the roof and exterior wall materials. This helps to prevent water from blowing in.
Generally, maintenance of eaves and fascia boards (the eaves board on the side with the rain gutter) is done through “painting,” but when there is overall damage that cannot be repaired by painting, metal work is performed.
Eaves metal work involves covering the eaves with Galvalume steel sheets.
This is also referred to as metal wrapping work or covering work.
This time, since there was overall deterioration, we performed metal covering work!

Procedure for Eaves Metal Covering Work
1. Removal of Existing Rain Gutter
The nose board (the fascia board on the side with the rain gutter) needs the rain gutter to be detached, so we will remove the existing rain gutter.
1.Measure dimensions at each location
We will measure the dimensions at each location!
After that, we will process according to the measurements.
2.Nailing
We will attach the processed sheet metal and proceed with nailing! We will also apply caulking on the inside of the joints!
3.Caulking treatment
We will perform caulking treatment.
4.Installing the rain gutter
We will install the removed rain gutter.
4.Cleaning
Procedure for replacing the ridge cap
1.Dismantling the existing ridge
We will remove the old ridge cap and the internal wooden batten. Care will be taken not to break the roofing material during this process.
We recommend replacing the internal wooden batten every 10 to 15 years.
Once the ridge cap is removed, there is a batten inside.
2. Installation of new batten
We will install a new batten. This time, we used a cedar batten, but there are also batten options made of corrosion-resistant resin (Tough Mock, Eco Lumber).
3. Sealing of ridge cap joints
We will apply sealing on the inside of the overlaps to enhance strength and waterproofing.
4. Installation of new ridge cap
We will process and install the ends and joints.
5. Cleaning
That’s all!
This time, the leak prevention work involved the eaves metal cover work and ridge cap work!
