This is a case study of exterior renovations in Ota-ku, Tokyo.

Kasagi Renovation Work Procedure

1. Removal of Existing Kasagi Metal

We will remove the existing cap flashing! For the balcony, we will temporarily remove the handrail before starting the demolition work.

2. Installation of New Cap Flashing Base

We will cut the new base to the correct size and secure it with screws!

3. Installation of Roofing Sheet

We will lay the roofing sheet (waterproof sheet) over the base! The roofing used is Tajima Roofing/Tadisu Self!
It is made of a delayed adhesive modified asphalt roofing material, which is said to have double the durability of regular asphalt roofing.
With the role of primary waterproofing, if the roofing is properly installed, there will be no leaks!
We will secure it firmly to prevent it from blowing away!

4. Installation of Accessories / Karakusa

Before the main construction, we will process and install an accessory called Karakusa!
The material used for the accessory is Galvalume steel plate!

5. Cap Flashing Processing

After processing the accessories, we will install the cap flashing. We will apply caulking at the overlapping parts of the cap flashing and the junction with the exterior wall to ensure waterproofing!This increases strength and waterproofing. If this caulking is inadequate, rainwater can enter through gaps, leading to faster deterioration!

6. Waterproof Seal

We have completed the sealing in various areas and installed the handrails!
