This is a case study of an exterior renovation project in Musashino City, Tokyo.
For this roof renovation, we performed a roof overlay (cover method) using Super Galtect! Along with the roof overlay, we also carried out the processing of the eaves metal and the painting of the fascia!

A roof overlay (cover method) refers to the process of dismantling and removing existing roofing materials and replacing them with new roofing as a measure against leaks.

Roof Replacement Construction Procedure

1. Demolition of Existing Roofing Material

We will dismantle the existing roofing material!

2. Installation of New Sheathing

After dismantling the existing roofing materials, we will process and install new sheathing boards to fit the dimensions!

3. Installing the Roofing (Waterproof Sheet)

Next, we will install the roofing sheet (waterproof sheet)! The roofing used is Tajima Roofing/New Liner Roofing!
This underlayment boasts the highest quality, unmatched in both waterproofing and durability. By sandwiching a modified asphalt layer between non-woven fabric and base paper, it fully demonstrates the inherent performance of modified asphalt.
The expected durability is about 30 years!

4. Fabricating Accessories (Karakusa and Keraba)

Before the main roofing work, we will fabricate and install accessories such as keraba and karakusa!
The materials used for the accessories are SGL steel plates.

5. Main Construction (Aiji Industrial/Super Galtect)

After processing the accessories, we will install the Galttect main body up to the ridge! After processing the accessories, we will install the Galttect main body up to the ridge! We will also perform metalwork around the skylight!
Once we have installed the roofing up to the ridge, we will set up the necessary materials to secure the ridge cap, known as the “kanban.” The kanban we handle comes in various types, including cedar, resin, and Galvalume steel, and this time we used the Galvalume steel version!
The Galvalume steel version is expected to have a durability of 3 times longer than the cedar version! Unlike cedar and resin, it does not crack, providing high wind resistance!

6. Processing of Ridge Cap and Sealing at Various Locations

We will process and install the ridge cap. We will thoroughly apply sealing on the inside of the joints.
For the wall edges, we will process and install a component called the rain guard metal.
The nails and screws used for fixing are made of stainless steel, which is resistant to rust!

7. Cleaning

We will clean up the debris that has fallen onto the balcony and rain gutters. We will thoroughly remove items like nails and metal scraps that could cause injuries. Additionally, we will wipe away any footprints left on the roof to ensure it is clean.

Eaves Painting and Fascia Metal Installation

Once the base treatment is complete, we will proceed with the primer and topcoat!

About Roofing Materials

The roofing material used is the Super Galtect from Aijii Industrial.
The Super Galtect comes with a manufacturer warranty of 15 years for the coating and 25 years against perforation.
We also provide a 10-year construction warranty!
Made of SGL steel plate, it is resistant to rust.
Insulation material is thoroughly applied from edge to edge of the roofing material, creating a metal plate that integrates steel and insulation.
During installation, insulation is applied even to the parts where the roofing materials overlap, and the surface is coated with a high heat-reflective paint, allowing for a cool summer and a warm winter.
Additionally, it has soundproofing properties, reducing the sound of rain.
Moreover, it is lighter compared to other roofing materials, which reduces the sway during earthquakes, making it a good earthquake countermeasure.
It excels in finish, durability, insulation, soundproofing, and wind resistance, and the Super Galtect from Aijii Industrial is the most frequently used in our construction achievements, gaining significant attention!
