Roof Overlay (Cover Method) Construction Procedure
1. Demolition of existing ridge and snow guards
When performing the overlay work, we will dismantle only the ridge flashing, ventilation ridge, and snow guards that may obstruct the process.
Since the slope is steep, we will work carefully to maintain balance.
2. Roofing Installation (Waterproof Sheet)
The roofing material used this time is modified asphalt. It is expected to have double the durability of regular asphalt roofing!
3. Fabrication of Accessories (Karakusa, Keraba, Valley, Waste Board)
We will process and install the keraba, karakusa, valley flashing, and waste board.
4. Main Construction
Once the main body is installed, we will place the purlins at the ridge and wall edges. This time, we used cedar purlins, but there are also resin purlins that are resistant to corrosion.
5. Skylight Flashing Fabrication
After roofing up to the skylight, we will begin the flashing fabrication for the skylight. We will process the flashing to ensure that rainwater is properly drained off the main body.
6. Ridge Flashing and Wall Rain Guard Flashing Fabrication
We will process and install the ventilation ridge and ridge cap. We will firmly apply sealing on the inside of the joints. At the wall edge, we will process and install a component called rain gutter flashing.
7. Cleaning
We will remove footprints and any debris that has fallen around the house and inside the rain gutters, followed by a thorough cleaning.
We strive to leave the site cleaner after the work than it was before!

The Super Galtect comes with a manufacturer warranty of 15 years for the coating and 25 years for perforation.

Additionally, it has soundproofing properties, reducing the sound of rain.
Moreover, it is lightweight compared to other roofing materials, which reduces the sway during earthquakes, making it a good earthquake countermeasure.
You can choose from five colors: Shade Black, Shade Brown, Shade Blue, Shade Moss Green, and Shade Charcoal.

What is the Roof Overlay (Cover Method)?
The roof overlay method involves leaving the current roof almost as it is and placing a new roof on top of it, effectively covering it.
As the name suggests, it is a method of covering a roof with another roof. Therefore, the roof becomes double-layered. This method is also referred to as “overlapping roofing.”
Advantages of the Overlay Method
Since we place a “new roof” over the “current roof,” there is almost no need for demolition work, meaning very little waste is generated.
This is its most significant feature, leading to various advantages.
The only part that requires dismantling and waste disposal is the ridge cap, so compared to a complete roof replacement, the cost is lower.
In 2004, regulations regarding the concentration of asbestos in raw materials were changed (for details, please visit the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare website).
Some building materials used in structures constructed before 2004 contain asbestos. Asbestos-containing materials are difficult to dismantle due to their high environmental impact, resulting in high costs for both dismantling and waste disposal.
