In tile roofs, lime mortar is used to seal the gaps between tiles to prevent rainwater and wind from entering, as well as to keep the tiles themselves in place.
This lime mortar is also exposed to wind, rain, extreme temperatures, and direct sunlight, so it deteriorates over time just like other roofing materials. If you can see cracks or peeling, it is dangerous. The force holding it in place weakens, which can cause the tiles to shift with a slight wind or earthquake.
In the worst case, they may fall. Additionally, if shifted tiles interfere with each other, they may chip or crack, which can lead to rainwater infiltration and cause leaks.
This time, we will remove the existing lime mortar under the ridge and replace it with new lime mortar.

Face Repair Work Procedure
1. Remove existing lime mortar
If new lime mortar is packed on top of the existing lime mortar, it will peel off quickly. Therefore, we will thoroughly remove it and clean the area.
2. Level and moisten the base soil
We will level the base soil to ensure that the lime mortar can be applied evenly. Once the base is ready, we will spray the base soil with water to ensure the lime mortar adheres properly.
3. Apply new lime mortar
We will apply the appropriate amount of lime mortar so that it does not protrude beyond its original location (not extending beyond the roof surface).
If too much is applied and it protrudes from the roof, rainwater will hit it, causing the lime mortar to crumble.
4. Cleaning
That concludes our work!
This time, the leak prevention measure was a surface repair project!
The customer was able to check the before-and-after photos and was very satisfied!
Due to budget constraints, we opted for partial surface plastering this time!
The plaster used was a type called Silguard, which is a much stronger material than the existing plaster!
