The eaves boards and fascia boards (the eaves boards on the side with the rain gutter) play a crucial role in preventing wind from adversely affecting your home.
During strong winds, such as those from typhoons, rain can come in horizontally, so the eaves boards and fascia boards help to disperse the wind, making it harder for rain carried by the wind to reach the junction between the roof and exterior wall materials. This helps to prevent water from blowing in.
Typically, eaves boards and fascia boards are maintained with “painting,” but when there is overall damage that cannot be repaired with painting, metal work is performed.
The metal work for eaves boards involves covering the eaves boards with Galvalume steel sheets.
This is also referred to as metal wrapping or covering work.
This time, since there was overall deterioration, we carried out the metal covering work!

Procedure for Eaves Board Metal Covering Work
1. Removal of Existing Rain Gutter
Since the fascia board (the eaves board on the side with the rain gutter) requires the rain gutter to be detached, we will remove the existing rain gutter.
This time, we will remove it because the eaves gutter is a discontinued product and will be replaced!
2. Flat Sheet Metal Processing
We will measure the dimensions of each section and process the metal to fit the shape of the eaves and fascia boards.
3. Nailing
We will attach the processed metal sheets and drive in the nails! We will also apply caulking on the inside of the seams!
4. Caulking Treatment
We will perform the caulking treatment.
5. Rain Gutter Installation
We will install the removed rain gutters.
This time, we will replace the eaves gutter with a new one!
The existing eaves gutter is a discontinued product, Esuron/E70, so we replaced it with Panasonic/PC50!‼︎
6. Cleaning
Procedure for Eaves Gutter Replacement Work
1. Dismantling Existing Eaves Gutter
We will remove the eaves gutter and brackets without damaging the fascia board.
2. Installing New Eaves Brackets
We will install new eaves brackets. When installing the brackets, we will use kite string or chalk lines to set the slope of the rain gutter, as the slope is important!
Please note that due to the fascia (where the eaves brackets were attached) or building distortion, even if we set the slope with the brackets, there may be backflow. It is important to check the slope with a level against the fascia before attaching the brackets!
3. Installing New Eaves Gutter
We will install the new eaves gutter!
4. Connecting to Existing Downspout
We will connect the existing downspout to the eaves gutter.
5. Water Flow Test, Cleaning, and Completion!
That’s all!
The eaves gutter used Panasonic PC50.
Unlike Denka and Eslon rain gutters, it has a steel plate inside, providing strength.
