Roof Overlay Construction Procedure

1. Demolition of Existing Ridge and Snow Guards

We will dismantle only the ridge flashing, ventilation ridge, and snow guards that obstruct the overlay work.

2. Installation of Roofing (Waterproof Sheet)

The roofing used this time is modified asphalt. It is expected to have double the durability of regular asphalt roofing!

3. Fabrication of Fittings (Kera, Karakusa, Valley)

We will process and install the kera, karakusa, and valley flashing.

4. Main Construction

After laying the main body, we install the ridge and wall plates. This time, we used cedar for the plates, but there are also resin plates that are resistant to corrosion.

5. Ridge Metal Processing

We process and install the ridge metal. We ensure that sealing is properly applied to the inside of the joints.

6. Cleaning

We remove footprints and debris that may have fallen around the house and in the rain gutters, and perform a thorough cleaning.
We strive to leave the site cleaner after the work than it was before!

About the Roofing Material

The roofing material used is the Super Galtect from Aijii Industry.
The Super Galtect comes with a manufacturer warranty of 15 years for the coating and 25 years for perforation.
We also provide a 10-year construction warranty!
Made of galvalume steel, it is resistant to rust.
Insulation material is tightly applied from edge to edge of the roofing material, creating a metal sheet that integrates the steel plate and insulation.

What is the Roof Overlay (Cover Method)?

The roof overlay method involves leaving the current roof almost as it is and placing a new roof on top of it, effectively covering it.
As the name suggests, it is a method of covering a roof with another roof. Therefore, the roof becomes double-layered. Since the roofs are layered, it is also referred to as “overlapping roofing.”

Advantages of the Overlay Method

By placing a “new roof” over the “current roof,” demolition work is almost unnecessary, meaning that very little waste is generated.
