Roof Inspections Using Drones!
This page explains the roof inspections conducted by Kakeru Koumuten Co., Ltd. using drones!
Drone roof inspections involve using drone-captured footage to check the condition of the roof and identify any damage!
The most reliable inspection method is to actually go up on the roof and visually check the condition of the underlying structure, but,
in cases of steep roofs or narrow spaces where a ladder cannot be placed, it may not be possible to access the roof.
Setting up scaffolding for roof inspections can be a significant financial burden for our customers.
In such cases, we recommend drone inspections.
Drone inspections are conducted by flying a drone remotely to check for cracks, chips, and other signs of deterioration on the roof!
What are the benefits of using drones for roof inspections?
✓ Safe inspections can be conducted even on roofs higher than three stories!
✓ Customers can view the footage being captured by the drone together with us!
✓ Safe inspections can be conducted even on steep roofs!
✓ Inspections can be performed without accessing the roof, preventing any strain on it!
Benefit 1: Safe inspections even on roofs higher than three stories!
Inspecting a three-story roof requires a long ladder that can reach the third floor.
Generally, ladders only reach up to two-story roofs.
When consulting about roof issues, customers are often already facing difficulties.
With drone inspections, there is no need to set up a ladder, allowing for immediate inspections!
Benefit 2: You can view the footage being captured by the drone together with us!
During drone inspections, customers can view the live footage of the inspection!
This allows for real-time discussions about the current situation, and we can capture images on the spot!
We can explain the condition of the roof while reviewing the photos together with the customer, enabling us to propose appropriate repairs.
Since we can capture images from a higher vantage point than climbing onto the roof, it becomes easier to visualize the overall condition of the roof.
Benefit 3: Safe inspections on steep roofs!
Drones assist in inspection surveys even on steep roofs or in narrow spaces where ladders cannot be placed.
By operating the drone from a safe location, the risks of falls or accidents are eliminated!
We can check the entire roof, even if the scaffolding is narrow and only allows partial visibility!
Both photos and videos can be captured.
We can clearly check even the smallest areas!
Whether accessing the roof directly or using a drone, it is important to note that drones are particularly affected by wind, so inspections cannot be conducted on windy days or during inclement weather.
We recommend checking the weather forecast and adjusting the schedule accordingly when planning drone inspections.
Benefit 4: Inspections can be conducted without accessing the roof, preventing any strain on it!
In recent years, there have been cases where some unscrupulous contractors have gone up on roofs and caused damage, leading to concerns among many people about “being on the roof.”
With drone roof inspections, there is no need to go up on the roof, making it a safe option!
Benefit 5: Drone roof measurements can determine roof area!
Kakeru Koumuten Co., Ltd. has introduced inspection drones equipped with measurement functions from DroneRoofer, allowing for automatic calculations of roof area, ridge length, and other features from aerial photos.
You can see the quantities based on your actual roof, providing peace of mind!
Points to Note About Drone Inspections
1. There are areas where flying is not permitted
Drone flights may be prohibited around airports and military bases.
2. Weather can affect operations
Drones are susceptible to wind, and flights may be impossible on windy days.
Flights are also not possible on rainy days.
3. Some issues can only be identified by physically going on the roof
The condition of the roof’s underlayment and the state of the internal ridge board are difficult to confirm with a drone, and you won’t know unless you go up on the roof.
Steps for Drone Inspections
1. Schedule Adjustment
Please contact us to arrange the inspection date.
The inspection fee and travel costs are free, so please rest assured.
2. Obtain Flight Permission
We will obtain flight permission for the drone at the inspection address.
We will handle the application process, so there is no need for customers to do anything special.
3. Aerial Inspection with the Drone
We will visit you at the scheduled date and time.
The drone inspection will take about 20 minutes.
4. Explanation of Condition and Report Creation
We will explain the condition of the roof, any damaged areas, and the state of the ridge metal based on what we can confirm from the aerial footage.
The aerial photos will be printed and mailed to you later.
We have also obtained permission from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism!
To fly a drone, permission from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism is required.
We are also insured in case of any accidental crashes.
