Roof Overlay Construction Procedure

1. Demolition of Existing Ridge and Snow Stops

First, we will dismantle unnecessary parts (ridge flashing) for the overlay method!The durability of wooden purlins is about 10 to 15 years. If there is little moss, we will scrape it off.

2. Installing Roofing (Waterproof Sheet)

Next, we will apply the waterproof sheet! The roofing used is Tajima Roofing / Tadi Self Cover!
This roofing has high durability and waterproofing!
Tadi Self Cover is the ideal roofing sheet for overlay methods on weak slate materials such as non-asbestos roofing.
With the role of secondary waterproofing, if the roofing is solid, it generally won’t leak!
We will ensure it is firmly applied so it won’t be blown away by the wind.
Since there are various durability years and characteristics for roofing sheets, it is important to choose a roofing sheet that matches the durability of the new roof and the roof slope!

3. Fabricating Accessories (Eaves, Gable, Valley)

Before the main roof construction, we will fabricate and install accessories such as eaves, gables, and valleys!
The accessories used are genuine Galtect accessories made of SGL steel plate!

4. Main Construction (Aijii Industry / Super Galtect)

After processing the components, we will install the Galttect main body up to the ridge! The fasteners we are using are genuine stainless steel renovation screws from Aiji Industry! By using screws for the fasteners, wind resistance is improved!
Once we have installed up to the ridge, we will set up the necessary materials to secure the ridge board, known as the ridge substrate. We offer three types of ridge substrates: cedar, resin, and Galvalume steel, and this time, since the customer requested a highly durable ridge substrate with a long lifespan, we used a Galvalume substrate.

The Galvalume steel can be expected to have three times the durability of cedar! Unlike resin or cedar, it does not crack, so it is safe!

5. Processing of Ridge Cap and Sealing at Various Locations

Next, we will process and install the ridge cap. We will firmly apply sealing on the inside of the joints. The sealing material used this time is Autochemicals’ Auton Exceed. Auton Exceed is a super high-durability sealing material with a lifespan of about 30 years. It offers nearly three times the durability of urethane and silicone-based materials!!
The black sponge-like material shown in the photo is called a “sealer (surface cover)” and prevents rainwater from entering from the ridge!

At the wall edge, we will process and install a component called a rain guard metal.
The screws used for fixing are stainless steel, which is resistant to rust, and come with waterproof packing!

6. Cleaning

We will clean up any debris that has fallen onto the balcony or rain gutters. We will thoroughly remove items like nails and metal scraps that could cause injury. Additionally, we will wipe away any footprints left on the roof to keep it looking clean.

About Roofing Materials

The roofing material used this time is the Super Galtect from Aiji Industrial.
The Super Galtect comes with a manufacturer warranty of 15 years for the coating and 25 years for perforation.
Our company also provides a 10-year construction warranty!
Made of SGL steel plate, it is resistant to rust.
The insulation material is tightly applied from edge to edge of the roofing material, creating a metal sheet that integrates the steel plate and insulation.
When installed, insulation is applied even to the areas where the roofing materials overlap, and the surface is coated with a high heat-reflective paint, allowing for a cool summer and a warm winter.
Additionally, it has soundproofing properties, reducing the sound of rain.
Moreover, it is lightweight compared to other roofing materials, which minimizes the sway during earthquakes, providing earthquake resistance.
It excels in finish, durability, insulation, soundproofing, and wind resistance, and the Super Galtect from Aiji Industrial is the most commonly used in our construction projects, making it highly regarded!
