Balcony Waterproofing Topcoat

High-Pressure Washing

We will perform cleaning of the balcony.

Surface Preparation

To improve the adhesion of the top coat, we will perform a surface roughening process. By intentionally creating fine scratches on the surface of the substrate at this stage, we enhance the paint’s grip (adhesion). For example, when the application surface is smooth and flat like glass, versus when it has slight irregularities, the latter allows the newly applied paint to adhere more easily. When applying the top coat, we generally carry out this surface preparation work.

Acetone Wiping

Next, we will perform acetone wiping! This is also an important surface preparation step. Acetone wiping involves removing the oil film from the FRP waterproof surface! Skipping this step could lead to paint peeling.

Top Coat – First Application

When performing waterproofing work, we generally apply a primer before the top coat; however, the water-based FRP top used this time does not require a primer. We will apply this as the base coat.

Top Coat – Second Application

The top coat is generally applied in two layers! After finishing the application, we will check for any missed spots or unevenness.

Balcony Top Coat – Completion

This concludes our work here. This time, we have performed a repainting of the balcony top coat!

The top coat material used is Kanae Chemical’s water-based FRP top in gray!

We were able to finish beautifully once again! The client was pleased with the work, and we are happy as well!
