This is a case study of an exterior renovation project in Takatsu-ku, Kawasaki City.
The work this time involves a roof overlay (cover method) using Super Galtect!

Roof Overlay Construction Procedure

1. Existing Roof Ridge Flashing

We will dismantle unnecessary parts (ridge flashing) for the overlay method! The lifespan of wooden purlins is about 10 to 15 years. Exceeding the lifespan can lead to corrosion and discoloration, resulting in the ridge flashing coming loose or being blown away.

2. Installing Roofing (Waterproof Sheet)

The roofing used is Nissin Kogyo/Kappa 23!
It is made of modified asphalt roofing material, which is said to have double the durability of regular asphalt roofing.
As a primary waterproofing measure, if the roofing is properly installed, there will be no leaks!
We will ensure it is securely attached to prevent it from blowing away.

3. Fabrication of Accessories (Karakusa, Keraba, Tani)

Before the main roof installation, we will fabricate and install accessories such as keraba and karakusa!

The accessories used are genuine Galtect accessories made of SGL copper plate!

4. Main Construction (Aiji Kogyo/Super Galtect)

After fabricating the accessories, we will install the Galtect main roofing up to the ridge!
Once the roofing is completed up to the ridge, we will install necessary materials called “kanbari” to secure the ridge metal. There are types of kanbari made of cedar and resin, and this time we used cedar!

5. Processing of Ridge Metal and Sealing at Various Locations

Next, we will process and install the ridge metal. We will apply sealing thoroughly on the inside of the joints. At the wall edge, we will fabricate and install a component called “ameosae bokin” (rain guard metal).
The nails and screws used for fixing are made of stainless steel, which is resistant to rust!

6. Cleaning

We will clean up the debris that has fallen onto the balcony and rain gutters. We will thoroughly remove items like nails and metal scraps that could lead to injuries. Additionally, we will wipe away any footprints left on the roof to ensure it looks clean.

About Roofing Materials

The roofing material used is the Super Galtect from Aijii Industrial.
The Super Galtect comes with a manufacturer warranty of 15 years for the coating and 25 years for perforation.
Our company also provides a 10-year construction warranty!
Made of SGL steel plate, it is resistant to rust.
Insulation material is tightly applied from edge to edge of the roofing material, creating a metal plate that integrates the steel plate and insulation.
When installed, insulation is applied even to the parts where the roofing materials overlap, and the surface is coated with a highly heat-reflective paint, allowing for a cool summer and warm winter experience.
Additionally, it has soundproofing properties, reducing the sound of rain.
Being lighter than other roofing materials, it also reduces the sway during earthquakes, contributing to earthquake resistance.
It excels in finish, durability, insulation, soundproofing, and wind resistance, and the Super Galtect from Aijii Industrial is the most commonly used in our construction projects, gaining significant attention!
