Roof Overlay Construction Procedure

1. Dismantling Existing Ridge and Snow Stops

First, we will dismantle unnecessary parts (ridge flashing) for the overlay method!

The durability of wooden purlins is about 10 to 15 years. Once the durability period is exceeded, corrosion and discoloration occur, which can lead to the detachment and scattering of the ridge flashing.

2. Laying Roofing (Waterproof Sheet)

Next, we will lay the waterproof sheet! The roofing used is Tajima Roofing / Tadi Self Cover, which is a highly durable and waterproof roofing material!

Tadi Self Cover is the ideal roofing sheet for overlay methods on fragile slates such as non-asbestos roofing materials. As a secondary waterproofing measure, if the roofing is properly installed, it generally will not leak. We will ensure it is firmly attached so it does not get blown away by the wind.

Since there are various durability periods and characteristics for roofing sheets, it is important to choose roofing sheets that match the durability of the new roof and the roof slope!

3. Fabrication of Fittings (Curved Patterns, Eaves, Valleys)

Before the installation of the main roof body, we will process and install components such as eaves, arabesques, and valleys. The components used are the genuine parts of Galutect made from SGL steel plate!

The metal fittings at the ridge are our company’s original integrated waste board ridge base. It has a durability of approximately 30 years and provides high wind resistance.

4. Main Construction (Aiji Industry / Super Galutect)

After processing the components, we will install the Galutect main body up to the ridge! The fasteners used for the Galutect main body are genuine stainless steel renovation screws from Aiji Industry!

Once the installation reaches the ridge, we will install the necessary materials to secure the ridge cap, known as the “kanban.” We offer three types of kanban: cedar, resin, and galvalume steel, and this time we used galvalume steel!

Galvalume steel offers three times the durability compared to cedar! Unlike resin or cedar, it does not crack, providing peace of mind!

Our original integrated waste board ridge base made of galvalume steel is highly durable, with strong fixation and excellent wind resistance!

Even if rainwater enters from the ridge, it has a mechanism to discharge rainwater to the outside, providing high waterproofing performance!

It is perfect for the ridge base of Super Galutect!

5. Ridge Cap Processing and Sealing

We will process and install the ridge cap. To enhance waterproofing, we will install a face plate on the inside of the ridge! We will thoroughly apply sealing on the inside of the joints.

We use rust-resistant stainless steel screws with waterproof packing!

Unlike nails, screws with packing are less likely to come loose
and securely fasten the ridge cap to the underlying board!

Although it is not visible after installation,
by attaching a face plate to the inside of the ridge cap,
waterproofing is enhanced!
It firmly protects the ridge, which is a critical part of the roof.

6. Cleaning

After the

roof work is completed, we will clean up any debris that has fallen onto the balcony or rain gutters. We thoroughly remove nails and metal scraps to prevent injuries.

We will also wipe away any footprints left on the roof to keep it clean.

About Roofing Materials

The roofing material used is Ai-Gi Kogyo / Super Galtect. Super Galtect comes with a 15-year coating warranty and a 25-year hole warranty from the manufacturer, along with a 10-year construction warranty from our company! Additionally, it is made of SGL steel, which is resistant to rust.

The insulation material is tightly applied from edge to edge of the roofing material, creating a metal sheet that integrates the steel plate and insulation. During installation, insulation is applied even to the parts where the roofing materials overlap, and the surface is coated with a high heat-reflective paint, allowing for a cool summer and a warm winter.

Moreover, it has soundproofing properties, reducing the sound of rain. Being lighter than other roofing materials, it also minimizes the sway during earthquakes, providing earthquake resistance.

It excels in finish, durability, insulation, soundproofing, and wind resistance, and Super Galtect from Ai-Gi Kogyo is the most frequently used in our construction achievements, gaining significant attention!

Hood and Fascia Metal Cover Work and Eaves Gutter Replacement Procedure

1. Dismantling Existing Rain Gutter, Hood, and Fascia Metal

We will remove the existing metalwork, eaves gutters, and fittings! After dismantling the existing fittings, we will also carry out repairs due to the holes left by screws and nails.

2. Flat Sheet Metal Processing

We will measure the dimensions of each area and process the sheet metal into the shape of the eaves and fascia.

3. Nailing

We will attach the processed sheet metal and proceed with nailing. We will also apply caulking to the inside of the seams!

4. Installation of New Eaves Brackets

We will install new eaves brackets. The brackets will be made of stainless steel. When installing the brackets, we will use kite string or a chalk line to set the slope of the rain gutter. The slope of the rain gutter is important!

Due to the fascia (where the eaves brackets were installed) and the distortion of the building, even if we set the slope with the brackets, there may be backflow. It is important to check the slope with a level against the fascia before attaching the brackets!

5. Rain Gutter Installation

We will install the new rain gutters.

6. Water Flow Test and Cleaning

Finally, we will conduct a water flow test, clean up, and complete the work!

During the water flow test, we will actually run water through the rain gutters to check for any leaks and ensure that water flows properly!

For the eaves gutter, we used Panasonic / Civil Care PC50. This product has strength due to the steel plate inside.

Summary of Rain Gutter Replacement Work

The fascia board and the eaves (the fascia board on the side where the rain gutter is attached) play a crucial role in preventing wind from adversely affecting your home.

During strong winds, such as during typhoons, rain falls horizontally, so the fascia board and eaves disperse the wind. This also helps to disperse the rain that is blown by the wind, making it less likely to reach the junction between the roof and the exterior wall materials. This helps to prevent water from blowing in.

Generally, maintenance of the fascia board and eaves is done through “painting,” but when there is overall damage that cannot be repaired by painting, we perform sheet metal work.

Sheet metal work for the fascia board involves covering it with Galvalume steel sheets. This is also referred to as metal wrapping or covering work.

This time, since there was overall deterioration, we carried out sheet metal covering work!
