Corridor Floor Construction – Construction Steps

1. Opening the Existing Floor Section

First, we will open up the existing sunken floor section and remove the flooring materials! We will carefully remove them to avoid damaging the walls and other structures!

2. Substructure Reinforcement and Height Adjustment

Next, we will assemble the joists (framework) and reinforce them. The ends will be slightly distanced from the walls to prevent creaking sounds.

With the joists in place, the load applied to the floor will be distributed, enhancing safety.

We will also perform height adjustments, which are essential for creating the substructure!

3. Plywood Underlayment

Next, we will lay down the plywood for the substructure. We will attach the plywood on top of the joists to prevent moisture from the ground.

4. Substructure Adjustment

Before laying the finishing materials (flooring), it is important to process any unevenness and ensure a good finish.

If the subfloor has bumps or gaps and the flooring material is installed as is, it can lead to issues such as lifting or sinking of the flooring material, so we proceed with caution.

6. Renovation Frame Installation

We will install the renovation frame.

The renovation frame is a type of frame that is designed to be installed over the existing frame, allowing for renovation around the entrance!

7. Floor Tile Installation

Finally, we will lay the floor tiles over the subfloor. We will make fine adjustments to the size and align the height, completing the floor tile installation!

The floor tiles used this time are from Sangetsu, specifically 【Floor Tile　PWT-3214】!
