This is a case study of an exterior renovation project in Aoba-ku, Yokohama.
For this roof renovation, we performed a roof overlay (cover method) using Super Galtect!
The roof overlay involves dismantling and removing the existing roofing materials to install a new roof, which is a measure against roof leaks.

This time, we replaced Monier tiles (mortar tiles) with Super Galtect!
Since Monier tiles have high thermal insulation properties, if the new roofing material has lower thermal insulation, the interior can feel hot. Therefore, we proposed Super Galtect, which has better thermal insulation than tiles!

Roof Overlay (Cover Method) Construction Steps

1. Dismantling Existing Roofing Materials

We will dismantle the existing roofing materials!

2. Installing New Sheathing

After dismantling the existing roofing materials, we will process and install new sheathing according to the dimensions!

3. Installing Roofing (Waterproof Sheet)

The roofing used is Jouyu Pulp Industry/Sunlight G!
It is made of modified asphalt roofing, which is said to have double the durability of regular asphalt roofing.
As a primary waterproofing measure, if the roofing is solid, there will be no leaks! We will ensure it is securely attached to prevent it from blowing away.

4. Component Processing (Curlicue & Eaves)

Before the main roofing work, we will process components such as eaves and curlicues!
The materials used for the components are SGL steel plates. The black rod-like object installed at the ridge is a resin-made purlin! We will install a waste board metal sheet on the resin purlin placed at the ridge. The resin material is expected to have twice the durability of cedar!

5. Main Construction (Aijii Industry/Super Galtect)

After processing the components, we will install the Galtect main roofing up to the ridge!

6. Ridge Cap Processing & Sealing at Various Locations

We will process and install the ridge cap. We will thoroughly apply sealing on the inside of the joints.
At the wall edge, we will process and install a component called a rain guard metal sheet.
The nails and screws used for fixing are made of stainless steel, which is resistant to rust!

7. Cleaning

We will clean up the debris that has fallen onto the balcony and rain gutters. We will thoroughly remove items like nails and metal scraps that could cause injuries. Additionally, we will wipe away any footprints left on the roof to ensure it looks pristine.

About Roofing Materials

The roofing material used is the Super Galtect from Aijii Industrial.
The Super Galtect comes with a manufacturer warranty of 15 years for the paint film and 25 years for perforation.
Our company also provides a 10-year construction warranty!
Made from SGL steel plates, it is resistant to rust.
Insulation material is tightly applied from edge to edge of the roofing material, creating a metal plate that integrates the steel plate and insulation.
When installed, insulation is applied even to the parts where the roofing materials overlap, and the surface is coated with a high heat-reflective paint, allowing for a cool summer and a warm winter.
Additionally, it has soundproofing properties, reducing the sound of rain.
Being lighter than other roofing materials, it also minimizes the sway during earthquakes, contributing to earthquake resistance.
