The metal was severely rusted, and the internal wood (lumber) was also significantly corroded, so we proposed a replacement.
The internal lumber of the new ridge cap was replaced with a resin material that does not corrode, and the ridge cap itself was made of Galvalume, which is resistant to rust.
If the internal lumber of the ridge cap becomes corroded, it can detach and scatter in strong winds, which is very dangerous.
Moreover, the top part of the roof, known as the ridge, is not covered by roofing material, making it prone to leaks.
It is considered a critical point of the roof.
However, the corrosion of the internal wood is difficult to notice since it is inside.
Therefore, we recommend replacement every 10 years.
The ridge cap is very prone to detachment, and if left unattended, it can accelerate the progression of corrosion.
Thus, we recommend annual maintenance.
