This is a case study of a roof renovation project in Suginami-ku, Tokyo.
The work involved a complete roof replacement (roof overlay method) on one side!

Roof Replacement Construction Procedure
1. Existing Roof Demolition
We will begin by demolishing the existing roof.
2. New Sheathing Installation
After demolishing the roof, we will process and install new sheathing according to the dimensions.
3. Roofing Installation (Waterproof Sheet)
The roofing used this time is Tajima Roofing’s Tadi Self, which is a self-adhesive roofing material.
It is used for roofs with a gentle slope!
Its durability is approximately 20 years, similar to modified asphalt.
4. Component Processing (Curlicue and Eaves)
We will process and install the curlicue and eaves.
5. Main Construction
Once the main body is completed, we will install the ridge board. This time, we used a resin ridge board that is resistant to corrosion!
6. Ridge metal processing
We will process and install the ridge metal.
7. Cleaning
We will remove footprints and debris that have inevitably fallen around the house and in the rain gutters, and do a thorough cleaning.
We strive to ensure that the area is cleaner after the work than it was before!
With that, the construction is complete!
The roofing material used is Kaimu’s Colonial Quad.
Colonial Quad is a roofing material that does not contain asbestos and has improved durability compared to Colonial NEO.
It is said to be the mainstream material for slate today.
To enhance durability, an acrylic coating is applied to the surface, making the roof lighter with lightweight slate material, which also provides shock absorption.
Additionally, as a non-combustible material certified roofing, it is less likely to catch fire, and after installation, the overlapping parts of the roofing material become less conductive to heat, demonstrating soundproofing performance comparable to ceramic tiles.
You can choose from eight colors: Neo Black, Pearl Gray, Ice Silver, Silver White, Coconut Brown, Walnut Brown, Irish Green, and Weathered Green.
This time, we implemented measures against leaks due to the roof replacement work!
