Procedure for Replacing Cap Flashing
1. Removal of Existing Cap Flashing
As seen in the photo, the substrate of the existing cap flashing was deteriorated due to water leakage. The cap flashing is generally fixed with screws or nails from above, which is a “top-down” method that is not recommended. It is essential to secure it from the sides or by gripping it.
We will carefully dismantle it to avoid damaging the exterior walls!
2. Installation of New Cap Flashing Substrate and Application of Preservative
Next, we will apply a wood preservative to the substrate. By applying the preservative, we can significantly extend the durability in the future.
3. Installation of Waterproof Sheet
The waterproof sheet used is a modified asphalt roofing material, which is said to have twice the durability of regular asphalt roofing.
As a secondary waterproofing measure, if the roofing is properly installed, there will be no leaks! We will ensure it is securely attached to prevent it from blowing away.
4. Installation of Galvalume Steel Cap Flashing
To prevent rain from entering, we will thoroughly seal the joints!
